Job summary

NatWest Group in India is seeking a high-caliber Software Engineer at VP level to design, build, test and deliver scalable software across the platform lifecycle. You will collaborate with principal engineers and architects, translating business needs into robust technical solutions.

You’ll apply agile methods, architect with a bias toward automation, and develop Java microservices and APIs at scale, leveraging GCP, BigQuery, GKE and Cloud SQL to modernize infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience (BigQuery, GKE, Cloud SQL)
• Twelve+ years Java development with Spring Boot and microservices
• Experience designing robust, scalable Java APIs and microservices
• Experience applying AI/ML to engineering workflows including test automation and deployment pipelines
• Strong understanding of Market Risk concepts and VaR data handling

What you'll do

Working in a permanent feature team, you’ll be developing knowledge of aspects of the associated platform across the disciplines of business, applications, data and infrastructure. You’ll also be liaising with principal engineers, architects in the domain and other key stakeholders to understand how the platform works and how it supports business objectives.

You’ll also be:

• Applying Agile methods to the development of software on the backlog
• Producing resilient and long-lived software and acting flexibly to cope with future needs
• Delivering intentional architecture and formulating emergent design through innovative ideas, experimentation and prototyping
• Designing and developing software with a focus on the automation of build, test and deployment activities, using executable patterns

The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with strong full stack experience in software design and implementation, including being able to exploit programming languages to solve complex problems. You’ll also need to be capable of complex requirements analysis capture and validation against and with business and systems requirements.

Additionally, you’ll demonstrate:

• At least eight years of hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, GKE, and Cloud SQL, with proven expertise in infrastructure modernisation and migration to cloud‑native architectures
• Minimum 12 years of Java development experience with strong proficiency in Spring Boot, Microservices architecture, REST API design, and scalable service development for enterprise platforms
• Strong experience designing and building robust, scalable, and well‑structured Java Microservices and APIs aligned with enterprise architecture standards
• Experience applying AI and Machine Learning techniques to engineering workflows, including test automation, deployment pipelines, and performance optimisation to improve delivery velocity and reduce manual effort
• Strong understanding of Market Risk concepts, including Value at Risk (VaR), market data processing, and time‑series data management
• Ability to translate Market Risk business requirements into effective technical solutions while collaborating across engineering and business stakeholders
