Job summary

WalkingTree Technologies seeks an experienced Business Central Developer to build and support BC extensions and integrations. You will join the ERP team, report to the ERP Lead, and work on live projects, tickets and new product features.

The role targets clean AL coding, test-driven development, and growth into technical leadership. You will collaborate on API integrations, data migrations, and report design, using AL, VS Code, Git and Azure DevOps/GitHub.

Qualifications

• Hands-on development in Business Central using AL and VS Code.
• Strong understanding of BC extension model: events/subscribers, table/page extensions.
• Functional understanding of core BC modules: Finance, Sales, Purchase, Inventory.
• Experience building or consuming REST, OData, JSON APIs.
• Contributed to at least one BC implementation or production support.
• Daily use of Git with branches and PRs.
• Clear written and spoken English with customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop Business Central extensions in AL: tables, table extensions, pages, codeunits, reports, queries and XMLports.
• Build integrations using BC APIs, OData and SOAP web services and custom API pages.
• Design report layouts in RDLC, Word and Excel.
• Support data migration using configuration packages and RapidStart.
• Write automated tests and unit-test own code before handoff.
• Resolve support tickets within SLAs: reproduce, diagnose, fix and document.
• Debug performance and upgrade issues with AL debugger and telemetry.
• Contribute to Octaware's BC apps following coding standards and AppSource guidelines.
• Use Git with Azure DevOps or GitHub for source control, PRs and pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews and keep technical documentation current.

About the role

You will build and support Business Central solutions for our customers and help develop our own Business Central apps. You will join the ERP team and report to the ERP Lead, working on live projects, support tickets and product development. This role suits a developer who writes clean AL code and wants to grow into product engineering and technical leadership.

Key responsibilities Development and delivery

• Develop Business Central extensions in AL: tables, table extensions, pages, codeunits, reports, queries and XMLports.
• Build integrations using BC APIs, OData and SOAP web services, and custom API pages.
• Design report layouts in RDLC, Word and Excel.
• Support data migration using configuration packages and RapidStart.
• Write automated tests and unit-test your own code before handing it over.

Support

• Resolve support tickets within agreed SLAs: reproduce the issue, find the root cause, fix and document it.
• Debug performance and upgrade issues using the AL debugger, snapshot debugging and telemetry.

Product and engineering practice

• Contribute to Octaware's Business Central apps, following our coding standards and AppSource guidelines.
• Use Git with Azure DevOps or GitHub (AL-Go) for source control, pull requests and build pipelines.
• Take part in code reviews and keep technical documentation current.

Must-have skills and experience

• 2+ years of hands-on development in Business Central using AL and VS Code.
• Working knowledge of the extension model: events and subscribers, table and page extensions, and why base code is never modified.
• Functional understanding of core BC modules: Finance, Sales, Purchase and Inventory.
• Experience building or consuming APIs and web services (REST, OData, JSON).
• Contribution to at least one BC implementation or support engagement that reached production.
• Day-to-day use of Git, including branches and pull requests.
• Clear written and spoken English, and confidence explaining technical issues to customers.

Good to have

• Microsoft certification MB-820 (Business Central Developer) or MB-800 (Business Central Functional Consultant).
• Experience with C/AL or Dynamics NAV, including NAV-to-BC upgrades.
• Azure Functions, Logic Apps or Power Automate for integrations.
• Power BI reporting on Business Central data.
• Exposure to AppSource apps, per-tenant extensions or ISV product work.
• Awareness of Copilot capabilities in Business Central and AI-assisted coding tools.
• Domain exposure to real estate, manufacturing, retail or professional services.
