Job summary

NatWest Group in India is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Services team in Middleware (Core Solutions). You will design, build and operate high‑performance, secure integration solutions for enterprise use.

You will bring hands‑on Java/Python expertise, implement middleware platforms like IBM App Connect and MQ, and work with OpenShift/Kubernetes and API technologies throughout the SDLC.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on software engineering and integration in SOA/IBM middleware with WebSphere MQ.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Python, including multithreading and concurrent programming.
• Hands-on experience with IBM App Connect, IBM MQ and API technologies like SOAP/XML, REST/JSON, YAML, XSL, ESQL, WSDL, XSD.
• Experience with CP4I and ArgoCD (or similar GitOps tools).

Responsibilities

• Produce complex and high-quality software rapidly and with business value.
• Contribute to architecture, design, build and manage services for the Enterprise Service Platform using IBM App Connect, IBM MQ and APIs.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Runners and Jenkins.
• Design and build cloud-native, containerized solutions on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Work in permanent teams across the full lifecycle from development to deployment and operations.
• Collaborate to optimise the software engineering capability and practices.
• Engage across requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment and operations.

What you’ll do

In your new role, you’ll be a key technical member of the Enterprise Services team in India within Middleware (Core Solutions), responsible for designing, building and operating high‑performance, secure and scalable integration solutions.

You’ll bring strong, hands‑on expertise in Java/Python; middleware integration platforms (IBM App Connect, IBM MQ); container platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes) and event‑driven architectures. You’ll also apply sound technical knowledge to drive end‑to‑end solution design, technical delivery, performance optimization and the effective use of AI/LLM capabilities throughout the software development lifecycle.

You’ll also be:

• Producing complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality which adds value to the business
• Contributing to the architecture, design, build and manage services as required by the Enterprise Service Platform team using IBM App Connect, IBM MQ and API platforms
• Implementing and maintainingCI/CD pipelinesusingGitLab RunnersandJenkins
• Designing and building cloud‑native, containerized solutions on OpenShift/Kubernetes
• Working in permanent teams who are responsible for the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning

The skills you’ll need

To take on this role, you’ll need a background in software engineering, software design, and architecture, and an understanding of how your area of expertise supports our customers.

You’ll also need:

• 3+ years of hands‑on software engineering and integration experience in SOA / IBM middleware applications involving Websphere Message Broker and IBM WebSphere MQ
• Strong programming skills inJavaandPython, includingmultithreadingand concurrent programming
• Hands‑on experience with IBM App Connect, IBM MQ and API technologies like SOAP/XML,REST/JSON, YAML, XSL,ESQL, WSDL, XSD
• Experience withCP4IandArgoCD(or similar GitOps tools)

• Proven ability to implementintegration patterns(orchestration, aggregation, pub/sub, fire‑and‑forget, etc.)

• Experience withDxAPM,OpenTelemetry (OTel)andSplunk, or similar observability tools
