Job summary

Smartstream Limited in Mumbai is seeking a mid-level full stack software engineer to join our development team. You will contribute to the full product lifecycle, building robust services with Java, Spring, and Angular, and integrate with modern CI/CD practices.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in software engineering, strong Java and Angular skills, and experience with RESTful APIs, SQL databases, and Kubernetes-like tools. This on-site role offers a collaborative environment in our Mumbai centre.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong backend with Java 8/17+ and Spring; frontend with Angular 15+.
• Experience with relational DBs and SQL (Oracle/SQL Server/Postgres).
• Experience with RESTful APIs, Swagger/OpenAPI, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

Mid-Level Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer) – Mumbai

Working with our product development centres in Bangalore, Bristol, and Vienna, our Mumbai team builds modern software using constantly evolving Agile practices. Independent, autonomous teams build, maintain, and support services, allowing them to develop deep expertise in both technology and business domains.

Java and Spring are our primary backend technologies, with Angular and TypeScript on the frontend.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, configuration, and deployment.
• Develop software using Agile methodologies, including Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and Continuous Deployment practices.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and defect fixes for Smartstream solutions and internal toolkits.
• Follow Smartstream's engineering processes, coding guidelines, and quality standards.
• Build scalable, resilient, and high-performance software solutions that meet the stringent requirements of global financial institutions.
• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive unit and integration test suites.
• Develop automation solutions to streamline and enhance the software development lifecycle.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong professional experience with Java 8/17+ and Angular 15+.
• Hands-on proficiency with Git, Maven, NPM, and Jenkins Pipelines.
• Deep understanding of Spring Framework and Spring Boot microservices architecture.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Practical experience working with SQL on relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or Postgres.
• Experience using AI tools such as Kiro, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot in development.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with containerisation technologies: Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• Understanding of AI technologies such as MCP.
• Exposure to cloud technologies, preferably AWS.

Experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, having progressed from a junior/associate engineering role.
• Experience developing in a software vendor environment is desirable but not required.
• Financial software experience would be a bonus but is not expected.

Education

• Engineering graduate with a Computer Science / Information Technology background, or similar.
