Engineering & Technology Onsite/Hybrid - Trivandrum Internship 0-1 years
Apply by 26 Feb 2027
Job Description
ZANCK is looking for a Software Development Intern – Intelligent Systems to join our Engineering & Technology team.In this role, you will work at the intersection of software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data to help build intelligent software systems. You will contribute to practical engineering tasks such as preparing and processing data, developing intelligent features, integrating AI/ML models, building APIs, evaluating system performance, and experimenting with emerging technologies. This is a build-and-learn role for someone who is curious about how software can become more intelligent, adaptive, automated, and capable of making data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing software applications with AI/ML capabilities.
- Build and maintain Python-based utilities, services, and automation workflows.
- Prepare, clean, transform, and validate datasets for intelligent applications.
- Assist with implementing and evaluating machine learning models.
- Support experimentation with different algorithms, models, and approaches.
- Develop basic data-processing and feature-engineering workflows.
- Integrate AI/ML models and services into software applications.
- Work with APIs and backend services for AI-powered applications.
- Assist in testing model outputs and application behavior.
- Analyse model and system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Research emerging AI, ML, Generative AI, and intelligent-systems technologies.
- Develop proof-of-concepts and technical prototypes.
- Debug software, data, and model-related issues.
- Document experiments, implementations, findings, and technical decisions.
- Use Git and collaborative development practices.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and development meetings.
- Work closely with engineers and other teams to translate problems into technical solutions.
- Real-world AI internships increasingly emphasize the complete workflow—from data preparation and model development through evaluation, integration, and deployment—rather than treating AI as only model training.
Requirements
Educational Qualification
Currently pursuing or recently completed: BCAB.Tech / BE – Computer Science, IT, AI/ML, Data Science, ECE, or related field.
MCAMSc Computer Science / Data Science / AI Or an equivalent technical qualification.
Core Technical Requirements
- Good understanding of programming fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of Python.
- Basic understanding of Data Structures & Algorithms.
- Basic understanding of Object-Oriented Programming.
- Fundamental understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts.
- Basic knowledge of: Supervised and unsupervised learning.
- Model training and testing.
- Model evaluation.
- Data preprocessing.
- Familiarity with NumPy and Pandas.
- Basic understanding of SQL and databases.
- Basic understanding of Git/version control.
Preferred Skills
- Scikit-learn
- TensorFlow / PyTorch
- OpenCV / Computer Vision
- Natural Language Processing
- Generative AI / LLMs
- Prompt engineering
- RAG systems
- AI agents
- REST APIs
- FastAPI / Flask
- Data visualization
- Jupyter
- Linux
- Docker
- Cloud platforms
- Vector databases
These are preferred, not mandatory. I would deliberately keep LLMs, RAG, agents, PyTorch, Docker, and cloud out of the mandatory requirements for an intern. Requiring all of them would turn this into a junior AI-engineer position and unnecessarily reduce your fresher talent pool. Current internship listings similarly treat many advanced frameworks and deployment technologies as advantages rather than prerequisites.
What We're Looking For
- Is genuinely curious about AI and intelligent software.
- Enjoys programming and solving technical problems.
- Can learn unfamiliar concepts independently.
- Thinks analytically and experimentally.
- Is comfortable working with data.
- Can understand a problem before jumping into implementation.
- Pays attention to accuracy and detail.
- Is willing to experiment, test, fail, and improve.
- Can explain their technical thinking clearly.
- Takes ownership of assigned tasks.
- Works effectively within an engineering team.
Good to Have
- A personal AI/ML project.
- A GitHub/GitLab repository containing relevant work.
- An academic AI/ML project.
- A chatbot or LLM application.
- A computer-vision project.
- A recommendation or prediction system.
- An automation project using AI.
- Participation in hackathons or technical competitions.
- Open-source contributions.
- Research/project experience involving AI, ML, data science, or intelligent systems.
- Personal and academic projects are particularly useful for internships because they demonstrate that a candidate has actually applied their knowledge rather than simply completed coursework.
What You Will Learn
- AI/ML application development
- Data preparation and processing
- Machine learning workflows
- Model evaluation and experimentation
- AI-powered application development
- Python engineering
- APIs and intelligent services
- Generative AI technologies
- AI system integration
- Software testing and debugging
- Git-based engineering workflows
- AI/ML deployment concepts
- Responsible and reliable AI development
- Working within a professional engineering environment
Ideal Candidate
You don't need to be an AI expert. You need to have a strong interest in building intelligent systems, a foundation in programming, and the ability to learn. If you've built a small ML model, experimented with an LLM, created an AI-powered application, worked with datasets, or simply enjoy exploring how software can understand, predict, automate, or make decisions, we'd like to hear from you.
