Job summary

SonicWall is seeking a Software Development Engineer (C, Linux & Networking) for its Bengaluru team. You will design and implement new features for the firewall product line, ensure on-time delivery with top quality, and assist in troubleshooting complex customer issues across distributed teams.

The role requires 3–5 years of software development experience, strong C programming skills, Linux expertise, and deep networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VPNs, and SD-WAN.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new software features on SonicWall firewall product-line.
• Able to deliver features on time, with the highest level of quality, in the best interest of the customer.
• Facilitate problem diagnosis and prompt resolution for issues reported by customers.
• Maintain existing software features by implementing enhancements and fixing bugs.
• Write functional and design specifications, and work with technical publications team for documentation needs.
• Collaborate with other engineers on code reviews, test case reviews, and process enhancements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work with different groups, teams and projects.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science or engineering or related field or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related field with a minimum of 3-4 years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in C is a must with 3+ years of experience.
• Hands on experience with Firewalls, SD-WAN, Routing technologies, VPNs, High Availability is a strong plus.
• Hands on experience and knowledge of Networking protocols and functioning of TCP/IP stack.
• Good experience with Linux operating systems and multi-threading.
• Experience in embedded system development is a plus.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Self-motivated and strong collaborative team player with ability to work well with globally distributed team members.

Preferences

• Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced, agile team environment.
