Job description

We're looking for a Software Developer who thinks in systems, not just syntax. The nature of this job is changing quickly AI coding assistants now handle a large share of routine, boilerplate code, which means the real value you bring is in architectural judgment, problem decomposition, code quality, and making the right trade-offs, not just typing speed. We want someone who has embraced AI-assisted development as a force multiplier and wants to spend their time on the harder, more interesting 20% of the work.

You’ll be building and maintaining features across the stack — from database and API design to front-end interfaces — as part of a small, fast-moving engineering team. You’ll own your work end-to-end: from understanding the requirement, through implementation and testing, to deployment and post-release monitoring.

Roles & Responsibilities

Development

• Design, build, and ship features across the full stack — front-end (React/Angular), back-end (Node.js/Java/Python), and database layers.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code, using AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate routine implementation while applying human judgment to architecture and edge cases.
• Build and consume RESTful (or GraphQL) APIs and integrate with third-party services as needed.
• Design efficient database schemas (SQL and/or NoSQL) and write performant queries.

System Design & Architecture

• Participate actively in system design discussions, weighing trade-offs between scalability, maintainability, cost, and delivery speed.
• Break down ambiguous, high-level requirements into clear technical tasks and estimate effort realistically.
• Identify and address technical debt proactively rather than letting it accumulate silently.
• Contribute to architectural decisions as the product scales — including when and how to introduce microservices, caching layers, or queuing systems.

Quality & Collaboration

• Participate in code reviews — both giving and receiving feedback — to maintain a high engineering bar across the team.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration) to catch regressions before they reach production.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to clarify requirements and push back constructively when something doesn’t make sense technically.
• Debug and resolve production issues, including reading logs, reproducing edge cases, and shipping fixes under time pressure when needed.

Delivery & Deployment

• Work within CI/CD pipelines to ship code safely and frequently.
• Monitor deployed features for performance and errors post-release, and iterate based on real usage data.
• Document technical decisions and system behavior clearly enough that teammates (and your future self) can understand them months later.

Desired Candidate Profile

• 2–6 years of experience building and shipping production software, ideally across the full stack.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and at least one modern JavaScript framework plus one backend language (Node.js, Java, or Python).
• Demonstrated comfort using AI-assisted coding tools as part of a daily workflow — this is now an expected skill, not a bonus.
• Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Ability to reason clearly about system design, not just implement pre-defined tickets — this is the biggest differentiator in the current market.
• Bonus: experience with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), or contributing to open-source projects.
