Position description: Jindal Stainless Limited, a leader in the Mining & Metals industry, is seeking an experienced professional to lead the SMS RM- Planning department. This role demands strategic oversight and operational excellence in raw material planning and supply chain coordination to ensure seamless production processes. The ideal candidate will drive efficiency, optimize resource allocation, and collaborate cross-functionally to meet organizational goals while adhering to industry standards and sustainability practices.
Perform root-cause analyses on consumption anomalies, yield losses, and cost overruns, providing actionable corrective measures to shop leadership. Calculate and analyse the Value-in-Use (VIU) for diverse raw materials—including scrap, ferroalloys, virgin metals, and fluxes—to evaluate their true economic impact on melting operations.
Continuously update optimization parameters, thermodynamic constraints, recovery rates, and real-time commercial pricing within the Cassotis system to reflect shop-floor realities.
Utilize Cassotis linear programming and optimization models to determine the most cost-effective and metallurgically sound raw material mix for various stainless-steel grades.
Work hand-in-hand with EAF/AOD/LRF/Casting operations, Quality Assurance, and Costing teams to bridge the gap between theoretical planning and practical execution.
Deep technical understanding of SMS operations (Electric Arc Furnace, Argon Oxygen Decarburization, etc.), steelmaking thermodynamics, and alloy recovery behaviour.
Hands‑on proficiency in Cassotis or equivalent linear programming/charge optimization software.
Strong grasp of Value‑in‑Use (VIU) methodology, raw material blending economics, and cost‑modelling techniques.
Advanced proficiency in data analytics, MS Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems (SAP) for statistical modelling and MIS generation.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving mindset with a sharp focus on cost leadership.
High attention to detail with robust auditing, data verification, and documentation habits.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering and commercial teams.
Ability to thrive in a high‑energy, fast‑paced industrial manufacturing environment.
Educational Qualification: B.Tech / B.E. in Metallurgy or Materials Science Engineering.
Professional Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands‑on operational, process control, or raw material planning experience within a Steel Melting Shop (SMS), preferably in stainless steel or alloy steel manufacturing.
