Job summary

HCLTech is seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer in Chennai to design, automate and operate secure, scalable CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and container deployment capabilities across Azure and Kubernetes platforms.

You will build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, develop Terraform modules, and manage Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts while collaborating with security, SRE and platform teams to improve release quality and deployment automation.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines, YAML definitions, releases, repositories, artifacts and environment-based deployments.
• Infrastructure as Code—Terraform configurations, modules, variables, providers, state management and reusable templates.
• Scripting and Automation—PowerShell, Bash or Python for automation, deployment and operational tasks.
• Ability to create and troubleshoot manifests for deployments, services, ingress, ConfigMaps, secrets, jobs and namespace-level configuration.
• Experience developing, packaging, templating and maintaining Helm charts for application deployment.
• Container Ecosystem—Docker, image creation, registries, Kubernetes deployment patterns and container troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, package and maintain Helm charts for repeatable and consistent application deployments.
• Support container build, image management and deployment processes using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Work with engineering teams to standardize branching, release, artifact and environment promotion practices.
• Integrate quality, security scanning and compliance checks into DevOps pipelines where required.
• Troubleshoot deployment, pipeline, infrastructure and runtime issues across non-production and production environments.

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer with strong experience in Azure DevOps, scripting, Infrastructure as Code and cloud-native deployment automation. The role will focus on building reliable CI/CD pipelines, creating Terraform modules, maintaining Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts, and supporting containerized application platforms across development, test and production environments.

The candidate should be comfortable working with development, platform engineering, security and SRE teams to improve delivery speed, release quality, automation maturity and operational resilience.

Skill Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

Skill Area

Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines, YAML definitions, releases, repositories, artifacts and environment-based deployments.

Infrastructure as Code

Good experience creating Terraform configurations, modules, variables, providers, state management and reusable infrastructure templates.

Scripting and Automation

Working knowledge of PowerShell, Bash or Python for automation, deployment and operational scripting.

Ability to create and troubleshoot manifests for deployments, services, ingress, ConfigMaps, secrets, jobs and namespace-level configuration.

Experience developing, packaging, templating and maintaining Helm charts for application deployment.

Container Ecosystem

Strong understanding of Docker, image creation, registries, container runtime concepts, Kubernetes deployment patterns and container troubleshooting.

Good understanding of Microsoft Azure services, identity, networking, access controls and cloud deployment patterns.

Release and Operations

Experience supporting environment promotion, release validation, rollback, monitoring and production readiness activities.

Other Requirements

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Knowledge of GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
• Familiarity with container security, image scanning and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms.
• Understanding of SRE principles, incident response and operational excellence.
• Exposure to enterprise change management and production release governance.
