Job summary

Lakshmi Electrical Control Systems in Tamil Nadu seeks a Production Manager to lead high-volume energy meter manufacturing. The role targets BE/BTech with MBA and 10–15 years of experience, overseeing quality, testing, and SMT/TH soldering workflows.

You will drive process improvements and ensure timely production while managing a large shop floor team. The candidate will coordinate with internal teams and external vendors, implement lean manufacturing practices, and uphold ISO standards.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech or BSc in electrical/electronics with MBA preferable.
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in energy meter manufacturing or smart meter production.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing and quality systems (ISO 14001, Kaizen) beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supervise production activities on the shop floor to meet quality standards.
• Maintain product quality and meet quantities as per sales requirements.
• Coordinate with R&D, Quality, SCM, Sales, and Logistics.
• Train and manage a large team (around 100 people) and contract manpower.

Role & responsibilities

Job Title/Designation: Production Manager / Asst or Deputy Manager.

Job Description:

1. Education BE Electrical and Electronic Engineering / MBA.

2. Age - 30 to 40 Years.

3. Years of Experience – Minimum 10-15 years

4. Area of Exposure – Smart Meter / Energy Metering
5. Preferred Industry – Smart meter Industry / Manufacturing Industry.

6.Skills Required:

1. Should be able to maintain product quality in manufacturing shop floor

2. Should have the knowledge and hands on experience of Metering Test Methods, testing equipment, and its maintenance.

3. Should have strong knowledge on Energy Meter Debugging

4. Understand the electrical and electronics technical terms

5. Should have expertise in SMT/TH soldering and reworking activities.

6. Ability to troubleshoot failure issues at shop floor and customer returns from field.

7. Production of products as per quality standards and meet the quantity requirement Shared by Sales 8.Should be able to handle online quality issues with corrective and preventive actions.

People Management:

• Should be able to handle minimum 100 people at shop floor
• Ensure Safety of employees by teaching, monitoring safe test procedures and practices.
• Man, Material and Machine utilization Planning to be carried out.
• Managing the resources effectively for the production activities.
• Planning schedules, assigning work and training to the employees.
• Co-ordinating with purchase and stores for raw materials, WIP, FG and stock statements.
• Responsible for rework activity and need to train contract manpower on the same.
• Must have strong drive and decisive ability to make thing happen under limited supervision.

SOP:

• Supervising the production activities and ensuring that all activities are carried out as mentioned in Standard Operating Procedures
• Production of products as per quality standards and meet the quantity requirement shared by Management
• Should be able to handle quality issues with corrective and preventive actions.
• Responsible for preparing work instructions and test methods
• Preparing various Batch, daily and monthly test reports & customer wise test reports.
• Knowledge and implementation experience should be there for ISO 14001, 5S, Kaizen, Poke-yoke, Six sigma, Lean Manufacturing
• Knowledge of SAP or ERP etc.

The position needs a calm temperament as this is a high-volume production item and requires good conflict management skills.
