Job summary

ABB in Bengaluru, India, is seeking a Project Manager to supervise and coordinate on-site installation and commissioning in the Paint shop for ABB Paint robots. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage vendors, and ensure safety and quality to meet contract specifications.

The role contributes to ABB Robotics and Discrete Automation in Bengaluru, with a clear on-site work model and emphasis on collaboration across internal and external resources.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 6-12 years in paint shop installation and commissioning within Automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
• Strong knowledge of paint line processes, layout design, and automation components including pneumatics, sensors, and controls.
• Plan, coordinate on-site installation, commissioning, and project execution while ensuring schedules and quality.
• Ensure safe project execution per 5S, JSA, PTA, and other workplace safety requirements.
• Act as primary customer interface, coordinating cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to supervise and coordinate the work of internal and external resources and equipment technical specialists during on-site installation/construction activities related to the assigned discipline. Each day, you will ensure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations, standards, and contractual requirement.

This role is contributing to the Robotics & Discrete Automation in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Handle installation and commissioning activities in Paint shop.
• Manage and operate ABB Paint robots. Should manage different vendors onsite.
• Read and interpret layout and detail drawings accurately.
• Ensure compliance with Tier-1/OEM design standards and automotive manufacturing processes. Work on paint line processes.
• Lead the team at the customer site with awareness of pneumatics, sensors, and other integration elements, ensuring effective communication and execution.

Qualifications for the role

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6-12 years of relevant experience in paint shop installation and commissioning within Automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or line builder environments.
• Strong knowledge of paint line processes, layout design, and industrial automation components including pneumatics, sensors, and controls.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site installation, commissioning, and project execution activities while ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
• Ensure safe project execution through compliance with TBT, JSA, PTA, 5S, and other workplace safety requirements.
• Act as the primary customer interface, managing project communication, progress reporting, issue escalation, and alignment of cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
