Job summary

Mine Excellence seeks a senior mining professional to lead the on-site delivery of a multi-year drill and blast digitisation project at a large mechanised underground metal mine.

The role combines gyro-based hole deviation survey, underground drone scanning, fragmentation analysis and integrated blast design software to improve ore recovery, reduce dilution and shorten stope turnaround time. You will lead the on-site team and coordinate with planning and survey departments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in underground metal mining with hands-on drill and blast experience.
• Good working knowledge of long-hole stoping and production planning.
• Familiarity with DGMS regulatory requirements and safety practices.
• Experience supervising a shift or small technical team.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day site execution across the drill and blast cycle – blast design, gyro survey, design vs as-drilled comparison, drone stope scanning and fragmentation analysis.
• Own project targets on ore recovery, dilution, drilling compliance, fragmentation and stope turnaround time.
• Guide and support the site team of mining engineers, diploma engineers, drone pilots and helpers, including shift planning and on-the-job training.
• Work closely with the mine’s planning, survey and production teams on stope allocation, design inputs and data sharing.
• Drive adoption of the digital blast design and drill data software by the mine’s operating teams – training, SOPs and hand-holding.
• Review gyro and scan data, issue clear technical recommendations on drilling deviation and charging, and follow up on closure.
• Ensure equipment uptime – gyro units, drones, collar positioning systems and tablets – including calibration and spares planning.
• Ensure compliance with DGMS regulations, mine safety rules and permitting for underground drone and vehicle operations.
• Present monthly performance reviews to mine management and internal leadership.

Role: Site Lead Drill & Blast Digitisation

Experience: 10 18 years

Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Mining Engineering

Location: India – full-time site posting at an operating underground mine

Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent

Notice Period: Immediate to 60 days preferred

Currently, we are looking for Experienced Mining Engineers with an interest in hands-on drill and blast optimization roles / Sales and /or Mining-related Software Product development.

About the Role

We are looking for a senior mining professional to lead the on-site delivery of a multi-year drill and blast digitisation project at a large mechanised underground metal mine.

The project brings together gyro-based hole deviation survey, underground drone scanning, fragmentation analysis and integrated blast design software, with the objective of improving ore recovery, reducing dilution and shortening stope turnaround time.

You will be the person on the ground who makes it work – running the site team, coordinating with the mine’s planning and survey departments, and owning the project’s results.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day site execution across the drill and blast cycle – blast design, gyro survey, design vs as-drilled comparison, drone stope scanning and fragmentation analysis

What We Are Looking For

• 10+ years in underground metal mining, with strong hands-on drill and blast experience
• Good working knowledge of long-hole stoping methods and stope-based production planning
• Practical understanding of ore recovery and dilution control in mechanised underground mines
• Experience supervising a shift or a small technical team, and working alongside mine operating crews
• Familiarity with mine planning software such as Deswik, Datamine or Surpac
• Sound knowledge of DGMS statutory requirements and underground safety practice
• Comfortable dealing with mine management and presenting results

Preferred

• Exposure to mining digitisation – blast design software, drill data management or stope reconciliation systems
• Hands-on experience with gyro hole deviation survey, underground drone scanning or fragmentation image analysis
• First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate (Metalliferous) or Restricted Blasting Certificate
• Experience on the technology partner or contractor side of a mining project
