Job summary

Orcapod Consulting Services in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Silicon Firmware & Embedded Engineer to develop firmware interfacing directly with silicon and embedded hardware. You will work on embedded systems, firmware development, hardware-software integration, debugging, and RTOS-based applications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional hardware and software teams to design, develop, test, and validate firmware solutions, mentor juniors, and contribute to process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain firmware for embedded platforms.
• Create pre-silicon and post-silicon firmware.

• Debug firmware with JTAG, GDB, Lauterbach, and related tools.
• Work on SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB interfaces.
• Develop on RTOS platforms (FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Zephyr, ThreadX).
• Participate in reviews and architecture discussions.
• Validate firmware through testing and troubleshooting.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Silicon Firmware & Embedded Engineer with strong expertise in Embedded C to develop firmware that interfaces directly with silicon and embedded hardware. The ideal candidate should have experience in embedded systems, firmware development, hardware-software integration, debugging, and RTOS-based applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional hardware and software teams to design, develop, test, and validate embedded firmware solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain firmware using Embedded C.
• Develop pre-silicon and post-silicon firmware for embedded platforms.
• Implement and maintain C-based APIs and test applications.
• Integrate firmware with hardware components and support board bring-up activities.
• Debug firmware issues using JTAG, GDB, Lauterbach, or similar debugging tools.
• Work with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, etc.
• Develop applications on RTOS platforms like FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Zephyr, or ThreadX.
• Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Validate firmware functionality through testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with hardware, validation, and system engineering teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Embedded C development.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller architecture.
• Experience with firmware development and hardware-software integration.
• Hands-on experience with RTOS.
• Knowledge of embedded debugging tools.
• Experience with communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, or USB.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle, version control (Git), and build systems.

Preferred Skills

• Embedded Linux development.
• ARM Cortex or other microcontroller platforms.
• Device driver or bootloader development.
• Python or Shell scripting for automation.
• Knowledge of firmware validation and silicon bring-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Embedded C/Firmware development.
• 15 years of full-time education.
