Job summary

Kornferry is seeking an experienced IoT data engineer to design and operate end-to-end data pipelines from plant-floor sensors to cloud storage and dashboards. You will build production apps, implement secure integrations with MES/ERP and maintain robust CI/CD, containers, and automation for global shopfloor deployments.

The role emphasizes real-time streaming, scalable data models, observability, and proactive incident response, with a focus on reliability, cybersecurity, and ISA/IEC 62443

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain end-to-end IoT and manufacturing data pipelines from plant-floor data sources to cloud storage and visualization.
• Develop and maintain production-facing apps like OEE dashboards, downtime trackers, quality reporting tools, and operator UIs using React/Angular and .NET/Node.js/Python backends.
• Create secure, event-driven integrations between shopfloor solutions and MES, ERP (SAP), PLM, SCADA/PLC, historians, and IoT platforms using REST/GraphQL, MQTT/AMQP, OPCUA, and middleware.
• Own CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), infrastructure as code, and environment promotion for shopfloor apps.
• Implement real-time streaming architectures for high-throughput manufacturing data with backpressure handling, schema evolution, and failure recovery.
• Write optimized SQL for data mining, reporting, and integration validation; model timeseries and manufacturing datasets.
• Implement observability with logs/metrics/traces, set SLOs/SLIs, and enable proactive alerting with Grafana/Prometheus/Azure Monitor.
• Troubleshoot end-to-end integration failures by capturing payloads, validating schema, and resolving root causes across JSON/XML/SOAP.
• Develop real-time dashboards, machine connectors, and monitoring tools; integrate sensor/PLC/historian data for actionable insights (OEE, downtime, scrap).
• Ensure solutions meet safety, cybersecurity, ISA/IEC 62443, Zero Trust, data integrity and performance standards.
• Apply automation-first engineering: test automation, containerization, repeatable builds and reusable templates.
• Explore edge AI/computer vision (defect detection) and cloud/edge patterns (Azure IoT, Functions, Event Hub, Kafka).
• Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, dataflow diagrams, configuration guides and runbooks.

• Build secure, eventdriven integrations between shopfloor solutions and MES, ERP (SAP), PLM, SCADA/PLC, historians, and IoT platforms using REST/GraphQL APIs, MQTT/AMQP, OPCUA, and middleware.
• Own CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), infrastructureascode, and environment promotion across dev/test/production for shopfloor applications.
• Implement and maintain realtime streaming architectures handling highthroughput manufacturing data with proper handling of backpressure, outoforder events, schema evolution, and failure recovery.
• Write and optimize nontrivial SQL queries against production databases for data mining, reporting, and integration validation; design data models for timeseries and manufacturing datasets.
• Implement observability (logs/metrics/traces), SLOs/SLIs, and proactive alerting using Grafana, Prometheus, or Azure Monitor; ensure high availability during production shifts.
• Troubleshoot integration failures endtoend: capture raw payloads, compare against schema, identify encoding issues, trace through network layers, and resolve root cause across JSON, XML, and SOAP integrations.
• Develop and maintain realtime dashboards, machine connectors, and monitoring tools; integrate timeseries data from sensors/PLCs/historians for actionable insights (OEE, scrap, downtime, anomaly trends).
• Ensure all solutions meet PHINIAs standards for reliability, cybersecurity, ISA/IEC 62443 alignment, Zero Trust, data integrity, and operational performance.
• Apply automationfirst engineering: test automation, containerization, repeatable builds, and standardized templates/components for reuse across global sites.
• Explore and implement edge AI/computervision capabilities (e.g., defect detection) and cloud/edge patterns (Azure IoT, Functions, Event Hub, Kafka) where value is demonstrated.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, dataflow diagrams, configuration guides, and runbooks.
