Job summary

UltraTech Cement is seeking a technical tendering professional to prepare tenders and annexures for plant and machinery procurement across Integrated Cement Units and Grinding Units. You will verify mechanical GA drawings against design criteria and ensure timely delivery of drawings to site.

You will gather data from suppliers, prepare technical comparisons, conduct clarifications, and coordinate with project teams to finalize contracts, aiming for zero deviation and on-time completion.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical tenders and annexures for plant and machinery procurement across Integrated Cement Units and Grinding Units.
• Verify and check Mechanical GA drawings against design criteria; ensure civil drawings align with Mechanical GA drawings.
• Coordinate with suppliers for data, conduct technical clarifications, and submit evaluations for technology selection.
• Distribute Mechanical GA drawings to project teams and collect comments within deadlines.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of plant equipment to site and support contract closure.

Job description

Job Purpose

To prepare technical tenders, compare and analyze technical offers, and to prepare technical annexures for plant and machinery procurement orders in respect of post clinkerisation plant and machinery equipments of all projects of Integrated Cement Units and Grinding Units. To verify and check correctness of Mechanical GA drawings with respect to Standard Design Criteria and to concur civil drawings w.r.t. mechanical GA drawings. To ensure timely delivery of mechanical drawings and documents to Site(s). To ensure delivery of equipments at Site(s) as per schedule

• Collecting data from various companies including competitors, about plant and machinery performance of different technology suppliers. It is a challenging to obtain data, despite reluctance. This demands strong networking and tactful dealing.
• The job warrants strong technical and analytical skills and meticulous and patient working ascertain correctness of data and information provided by various suppliers.
• Preparation of comparison sheet and highlight the deviation of Critical data, Scope of Supply, Performance Guarantee , Spares, Weight Schedule, etc from the offer received from the various suppliers and to conduct technical clarifications meeting with suppliers to discuss deviations in above mentioned subjects and submit to the Superior for evaluation in technology selection process.
• Distribution of Mechanical GA drawings to Project Cell members at different levels from various functions / departments and obtaining their comments within the decided time frame is a veritable challenge.
• Vigorous follow up with various technology suppliers for timely delivery of plant equipments at Site(s).
• Contract closure requires a lot of coordination for seeking actual data from Site(s), understanding justification for deviations, etc for amendments or closure of contractor orders.

KRA1 Safety & Environment Norms To ensure that UTCL Safety and environmental requirements are fulfilled by the suppliers at every stage from Conceptual stage to the Detailed Engineering of the systems.

KRA2 Basic Engineering To guide drawing and design team for preparation of Plant Layout and Basic Flow Sheet (system design) as per finalized Project Scope for plant and machinery equipments of post clinkerisation for Brown Field or Green Field Projects of Integrated Cement Units and Grinding Units.

KRA3 Technical Evaluation for Procurement of equipments for clinker grinding units, cement silo, fly ash silo, packing plant, cement bulk loading, clinker loading, Balance of Plant equipments like stacker reclaimer, and air and water route finalization for the above areas for Integrated Units and Grinding Unit. - To prepare technical tender documents & submit to immediate Superior for review.

• To prepare technical comparison & evaluation of the offers in response to tender of post clinkerisation plant & machinery equipments & items for above mentioned areas of Integrated Units & Grinding Units.
• To prepare technical annexure of the contracts / PO for plant and machinery.

KRA4 Detailed Engineering: (a) To check and verify GA drawings , and technical specifications of equipments to ensure that they are in line with Scope, UTCL Design, Engineering and Safety Standards and
(b) To check and optimize mechanical drawings for compatibility with civil and E&I, to ensure that no revisions in drawings or no reworks are required during execution.

KRA5 On Time In Full (OTIF) Delivery of equipments at Site(s). To coordinate with various suppliers for tracking manufacturing progress of equipments, addressing issues, making interventions and ensuring their delivery at Site(s) on time and in full.

KRA6 Technical support for execution To provide technical support to Site(s) execution team by ensuring timely availability of drgs & documents, service engineer, steel estimation, inputs for execution planning

KRA7 Technical Contract Closure To co-ordinate with execution team for knowing deviations from the technical requirements specified in contracts.

To carry out technical review of the deviations or otherwise, to seek approval of the deviations or otherwise and prepare amendments for approved deviations in terms of revisions in drawings and amendments to contracts.

To co-ordinate for engineering solutions for post-commissioning problems enabling contract closure.

KRA8 CAPEX proposals of operating plant : To examine large CAPEX proposals (Value above INR 50 Lacs) of Operating Plants. To recommend the proposal or recommend changes in basic technical concepts, cost estimation and procurement of equipments. To provide technical support for execution of Capex through clarifications and technical solutions.
