Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Learn industrial pump fundamentals
  • Understand centrifugal, positive displacement, submersible, dosing, and other pump types.
  • Learn pump components such as impeller, shaft, mechanical seal, bearings, coupling, casing, and wear rings.
  • Understand pump curves, flow rate, head, efficiency, NPSH, and operating limits.
• Assist in installation and commissioning
  • Support senior engineers during pump installation.
  • Check alignment, coupling, piping connections, valves, and lubrication.
  • Assist with trial runs and record operating parameters.
• Pump inspection and preventive maintenance
  • Inspect pumps for vibration, abnormal noise, leakage, overheating, and unusual operating conditions.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and servicing.
  • Check bearings, seals, lubrication, coupling, and other wear components.
  • Maintain preventive-maintenance checklists.
• Troubleshooting
  • Assist senior engineers in identifying causes of:
    • Low/no flow
    • Low discharge pressure
    • Excessive vibration
    • Mechanical-seal leakage
    • Bearing overheating
    • Cavitation
    • Motor/pump overloading
    • Frequent pump failures
  • Learn to distinguish between pump, motor, piping, valve, and process-related problems.
• Dismantling and assembly
  • Assist with safe pump dismantling and reassembly.
  • Learn correct procedures for replacing mechanical seals, bearings, gaskets, impellers, and other parts.
  • Use tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, torque wrenches, and alignment tools under supervision.
• Measurements and documentation
  • Record suction/discharge pressure, current, voltage, flow, temperature, vibration, and other parameters.
  • Prepare service reports and maintenance records.
  • Document parts replaced and observations during service.
• Customer/site support
  • Accompany experienced service engineers to customer sites.
  • Understand customer complaints and collect equipment information.
  • Communicate technical observations clearly and professionally.
  • Follow site safety procedures and customer requirements.
