Job summary

Techstar Group in Chennai seeks a Server Operations Engineer at Junior level to join a 24x7 rotating shift. You will monitor VM-hosted enterprise apps, analyze incidents, perform deployments, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure service continuity.

The role requires L2 production support experience, Linux/Unix scripting basics, and familiarity with ITSM tools and log analysis. Telecom/networking ops background is preferred, with 1–4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in L2 Enterprise Application Production Support.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix and basic shell scripting.
• Basic SQL for data verification and health checks.
• Log analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with WinSCP, SSH tools.
• Git basics and repository access.
• Experience with application monitoring tools.
• Exposure to ITSM tools (ServiceNow, JIRA, Remedy).
• Understanding ITIL Incident/Problem/Change/Service Request processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise applications on VM hosts and respond to incidents.
• Perform incident analysis, troubleshooting, and SLA-based resolutions.
• Execute approved production changes, deployments, and rollbacks.
• Monitor logs and conduct health checks for issue investigation.
• Coordinate patching and post-patch validation activities.
• Oversee application availability and batch job health.
• Manage ITSM processes (Incidents, Problems, Changes, Requests).
• Collaborate with L3 teams for issue resolution.

Role Summary:

Function & Position: Server Operation Engineer Junior level

Career Stage: Assistant Engineer / Engineer

Interfaces: Server Operations and Monitoring support, Incident Management, Preventive

Maintenance.

24X7 Shift Working: Yes (24*7 Rotational shift)

Responsibilities:

• Monitor VM hosted enterprise applications and respond to production incidents.
• Perform incident analysis, troubleshooting, service restoration, and SLA-based resolution.
• Execute approved production changes, application deployments, and rollback activities.
• Perform log monitoring and analysis for issue investigation and health checks.
• Execute scheduled application and server patch installations and validate post-patch functionality.
• Monitor application availability, batch jobs, and health of the system.
• Manage ITSM activities, including Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, and Knowledge Management.
• Coordinate with L3 Development, Infrastructure, Database, and Network teams for issue resolution.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and support knowledge base.
• Participate in 247 shift operations and handover activities.

• Basic understanding of Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL databases.

Prerequisites:

• Industry experience: Telecom / Networking Server Maintenance experience
• Years of experience: 1-4 years
• Experience in operation and maintenance of telecommunications servers or large enterprise networks (1~3 years)
• Experience in automation tools development.
