The Role

We are hiring a Senior Developer with the mindset of a QA Engineer to join our team full‑time.

In this role, you will be the technical anchor for our projects. Your primary objective is to rapidly build the functional "skeleton" and logic of e‑commerce sites. You will be responsible for the backend architecture, plugin integration, and core WooCommerce functionality.

We expect you to leverage AI tools (like Cursor, Copilot, or ChatGPT) to accelerate the coding process, but we are hiring you for your experience and judgment. You must be the expert who verifies the architecture, secures the code, and rigorously tests every edge case before the project moves to the design phase.

Note: You will focus on functionality, logic, and stability. You will hand off your work to our internal team for final design, styling, and content entry.

Key Responsibilities

• Rapid Backend Architecture: Efficiently set up WordPress environments, configure WooCommerce, and implement custom post types and taxonomies.
• Rigorous Testing & QA: This is your most critical KPI. You must obsessively test user flows (Checkout, Sign‑up, My Account). You don't just check if it works; you try to break it to find edge cases.
• Logic & Integration: Handle complex requirements such as payment gateway APIs, subscription logic, and custom shipping rules.
• AI-Augmented Workflow: Use AI coding assistants to handle boilerplate and routine coding tasks to maximize your velocity, allowing you to focus on high-level architecture and problem-solving.
• Code Review & Security: Review all code (including AI-generated segments) to ensure it meets WordPress coding standards, is secure, and is free of deprecated functions.
• Error Handling: Ensure that validation rules, error messages, and fallback scenarios are in place for a smooth user experience.

Requirements

• Experience: Senior-level proficiency in PHP, WordPress Core, WooCommerce architecture (hooks, filters, templates), and MySQL.
• The QA Mindset: You must be naturally skeptical of code. You check for "happy paths" and failure scenarios (e.g., failed payments, out-of-stock items, conflicting coupons).
• Technical Depth: You understand the code deeply enough to instantly spot logic errors or security vulnerabilities in AI-suggested solutions.
• Tooling: Experience using AI development tools (Cursor/Copilot) as part of a professional workflow.
• Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot plugin conflicts and server-level errors independently using error logs.

Nice to Have

• Shopify Experience: Familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem, Liquid templating, or migrating stores from Shopify to WooCommerce is a strong plus.
• Headless Commerce: Experience with Headless WordPress setups.
