Responsibilities
Perform various accounting functions on US clients’ files including posting and reconciling Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Bank and Credit Card transactions, Payroll, general Journal entries etc.
Support Life Sciences–specific accounting such as R&D expense tracking, clinical trial accruals, grant accounting, and deferred revenue.
Prepare workpapers, accounting schedules and extract and prepare various management reports per clients’ needs.
Review work of Staff and provide constructive feedback.
Learn new software and develop new technological skills required to perform accounting and financial reporting.
Allocate work as per staff availability & competency.
Help Staff up-skill themselves through proper guidance.
Adhere to deadlines of the tasks assigned and keep the reviewer updated on the progress.
Self-review work for accuracy and completeness to ensure quality product before submitting to reviewer/manager.
Prepare SOP for the task assigned and update the same on regular intervals.
Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and controls.
Work with both India-based and US-based staff on an ongoing basis to collaborate on performing transactional activities, technical accounting activities & reporting activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant/CPA OR Masters Degree with 2+ years of experience in Life science accounting, preferably US geography.
Prior experience supporting Life Sciences clients (biotechnology, pharmaceutical, clinical research organizations, or medical device companies) is strongly preferred.
Preferred experience of R&D Expense accounting, Functional expense classification (R&D vs G&A), Pre-revenue / development-stage accounting concepts, Management reporting for biotech executives.
Strong conceptual accounting knowledge with sound ability on application of US GAAP including revenue recognition (ASC 606), R&D cost accounting, and accruals.
Tech Savvy and well acquainted with software/applications like Excel, Word, QBO & Bill.com.
Have strong time management and organizational skills.
Should have used at least 1 videoconferencing software (e.g. – MS Teams, Zoom).
Be a self-starter, highly collaborative, creative, outgoing, and possess strong financial analysis, modeling, and valuation skills.
Have strong qualitative and quantitative research and analytical abilities.
Good written and spoken communication skills.
Be able to work as part of a team, follow instructions and have excellent work ethics.
