Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Mumbai is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to lead large-scale highway projects and provide highway design expertise across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will review plans, perform traffic forecasting, and supervise junior engineers while collaborating with clients and contractors to deliver on schedule and with high quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Transportation engineering/planning or related.
• 8–10 years of experience, with 5–7 years in large-scale infrastructure/highway schemes and preferably global delivery models.
• Chartered / Professional accreditation desirable, not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Review master plans and ensure effective inter-disciplinary coordination for cohesive outcomes.
• Forecast and analyse traffic using advanced methodologies to predict and manage patterns.
• Review toll systems and revenue models for opportunities to optimise efficiency.
• Research and analyse transportation challenges and develop plans and policies; design roads, railways, bike lanes.
• Collaborate with engineers, urban planners, and policymakers to integrate transportation with land use planning.
• Provide technical oversight by reviewing junior team members’ work; foster quality and continuous improvement.
• Use transportation modelling, GIS and tools listed above for analysis.
• Contribute to due diligence reviews in meetings and design workshops at every stage.
• Analyse complex data sets to identify patterns and propose innovative solutions.

Senior Transport Planner

Our Highways team in India is looking for a driven and curious Senior Transport Planner for large-scale infrastructure projects. By joining our team, you will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging multi-disciplinary projects and utilize your Highway design expertise to serve as a design lead on transportation related projects. We will give you the opportunity to work with various disciplines to efficiently complete tasks on schedule.

You will work with an experienced and innovative team of Engineers and Project Managers, as well as gain experience working with our clients / contractor partners to solve their most challenging problems. Responsibilities:

• Proficient in reviewing and analysing master plans, ensuring effective inter-disciplinary coordination to achieve cohesive project outcomes.
• Demonstrated proficiency in traffic forecasting and analysis, utilising advanced methodologies to predict and manage traffic patterns effectively.
• Skilled in conducting thorough reviews and analyses of toll systems and revenue models, identifying opportunities for optimisation and efficiency.
• Responsible for conducting research and data analysis to identify transportation challenges and opportunities anddeveloping transportation plans and policies. Evaluating the impact of proposed transportation projects.Designing transportation infrastructure, such as roads, railways, and bike lanes.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, urban planners, and policymakers to seamlessly integrate transportation solutions with land use planning, ensuring sustainable development.
• Provide technical oversight by reviewing and checking the work of junior team members, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
• Ability to use Transportation modelling, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and statistical analysis tools like Vissim, Visum, Aimsun, Cube, Synchro, SATURN, EMME Junctions9/Sidra/Linsig .
• Contribute to all reviews for due diligence in regular team meetings, ECI (Early Contractor Involvement), Interdisciplinary design workshops at every stage of design.
• Analyse complex data sets to identify patterns and develop innovative solutions to transportation challenges, continuously seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes.
• Maintain clear communication with counterparts in lead and client offices as necessary, coordinating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Mentor and guide staff, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing within the team.

Here’s What You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s / master’s degree in Transportation engineering /planning or related
• 8 to 10 years of experience of which at least 5-7 years extensive and demonstrated experience in the domestic sector for large-scale Infrastructure/Highway schemes and preferably Global delivery models.
• Chartered / Professional accreditation desirable, not mandatory.
