Job summary

Arup's India Cities, Design and Planning team seeks a Senior Transport Modeller to deliver high-quality modelling across projects in the Middle East and India. You will lead projects, develop tools, and collaborate with our Dubai team while mentoring junior colleagues and ensuring rigorous technical standards.

You should have strong knowledge of VISUM and CUBE, plus related tools, with 7+ years in transport modelling and a degree in Civil Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering (Transportation) required; Master's preferred.
• 7+ years in transport modelling and related analytics.
• Experience with Middle East projects (UAE/KSA) is advantageous.
• Ability to develop bespoke modelling tools and automate workflows.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Transport Modeller to join our India-based Cities, Design and Planning team. This role will primarily support projects across the Middle East—particularly in the UAE and KSA—while also contributing to projects and initiatives in India. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality transport modelling and analysis, collaborating closely with our Dubai team and wider global Arup network.

As a Senior Transport Modeller, you will lead and deliver complex transport modelling projects, including intermodal planning, public transport strategy assessments, and the development of bespoke modelling tools. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing technical calculations, drawings, schedules, and cost estimates, while producing high-quality project documentation, reports, and presentations. The role also involves working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision, supporting project management activities, and mentoring junior team members to ensure successful project delivery.

We are looking for candidates with

• Strong expertise in VISUM and CUBE, with additional knowledge of tools such as VISSIM, Aimsun, SIDRA, SYNCHRO, GIS, Python, and VBA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation), with a Master’s in Transport Planning considered an advantage.
• 7+ years of experience in transport modelling, analytics, and traffic engineering projects.
• Experience working on Middle East projects (UAE/KSA), including STEAM/DSTM models and familiarity with UAE TIS guidelines.
• Solid understanding of trip generation, demand forecasting, traffic analysis, and transport planning principles.
• Proven ability to develop bespoke modelling tools, automate workflows, and deliver high-quality analytical outputs.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in project delivery, bids, client engagement, and business development
• Excellent team collaboration, planning, organisational, and time management skills, with an interest in big data analytics, active travel, and future mobility solutions.
