We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who combines full-stack Java development expertise with strong test automation capabilities. The role involves developing and maintaining enterprise applications while owning automated testing across UI, API, and data layers.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing feature development with building and maintaining automated test coverage. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), regulated industries, manufacturing, life sciences, or formula-based product environments is highly desirable.
Develop and maintain enterprise application features using Java 8 and Java EE/J2EE within an MVC architecture.
Work with Servlets, EJBs, DAOs, DTOs, JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, and SQL.
Build and consume REST APIs using Jersey / JAX-RS.
Support applications deployed on WildFly, JBoss, Apache TomEE, or similar application servers.
Work across MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, DocumentDB, and Neo4j.
Maintain and enhance web interfaces using jQuery, Bootstrap, and DataTables.
Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering UI, REST APIs, backend, and data layers.
Devellop and maintain test automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or similar tools.
Write and maintain automated tests using JUnit or TestNG.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintain appropriate test data across application databases.
Perform manual and exploratory testing where automation is not yet available.
Triage, document, and troubleshoot defects while collaborating with developers on root-cause analysis and resolution.
Partner with Product, Development, and QA teams to define acceptance criteria, test plans, and quality gates.
Troubleshoot application, database, integration, and automation issues.
Follow appropriate security and data-handling practices for customer, product, and regulatory information.
5+ years of combined experience in software development and QA/test automation.
Hands-on experience with Java 8 and Java EE/J2EE application development.
Working knowledge of MVC architecture, EJBs, Servlets, JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, and DAO/DTO patterns.
Experience building and testing REST APIs.
Hands-on experience developing test automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, REST Assured, or similar tools.
Strong experience writing automated tests using JUnit or TestNG.
Strong SQL and relational database experience, preferably MySQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
Experience with Git / GitHub.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to quickly understand complex business and technical domains.
Move effectively between feature development and automated test development.
Build test coverage that reflects real product, regulatory, and customer-data risks.
Understand existing enterprise architecture and contribute without unnecessary disruption.
Balance automation investment with manual and exploratory testing where appropriate.
Troubleshoot issues across application, database, API, and automation layers.
Act as a quality advocate while maintaining delivery velocity.
Adapt quickly to new business domains and technical environments.
