Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and concept design to hardware/software engineering, simulation, testing, and commissioning.

Project Engineering:
  • Lead end-to-end project engineering for high-current static generator excitation systems, from requirements review and concept development through detailed design, manufacturing support, FAT, site installation, and commissioning.
  • Design excitation system electrical and mechanical layouts for high-current applications, typically in the 5,000 A to 10,000 A range, including cubicle arrangement, power circuit configuration, cooling provisions, and maintainability requirements.
  • Perform sizing and selection of excitation system components, including transformers, rectifier bridges, thyristors/diodes, bus bars, disconnecting devices, breakers, protection devices, cooling equipment, controllers, I/O, and auxiliary power supplies.
  • Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, general arrangement drawings, BOMs, control logic, system architecture, and network topology documents.
  • Engineer bus work and high-current power connections, including routing, clearance, creepage, thermal performance, short-circuit withstand, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and system integrators to ensure the excitation system design is practical, cost-effective, manufacturable, and compliant with project specifications.
  • Support manufacturing quality processes, including inspection plans, assembly reviews, test procedures, nonconformance resolution, and corrective actions for high-current excitation equipment.
  • Implement control logic from SAMA diagrams, functional descriptions, and project-specific operating requirements.
  • Configure and integrate communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, IEC 61850, and DNP3, as applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable IEEE, IEC, NEC, ISO, HSE, and regional grid code requirements.
  • Manage complete project programs for high-current excitation systems, including engineering deliverables, technical risk, schedule alignment, manufacturing readiness, customer reviews, and cross-functional execution.
Field Services:
  • Prepare site execution and commissioning plans in coordination with project managers, engineering teams, customers, and installation contractors.
  • Lead site teams during excitation system installation, panel power-up, redundancy checks, I/O verification, loop checks, device checks, and system energization.
  • Perform and support commissioning of high-current excitation systems, including AVR/FCR control checks, limiters, protection functions, interface testing, and generator performance validation.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to excitation controllers, power bridges, firing circuits, field flashing, cooling systems, communication interfaces, protection devices, and auxiliary systems.
  • Review and resolve installation or wiring deviations, site constraints, and commissioning punch points while maintaining safety and quality requirements.
  • Modify logic, graphics, databases, parameters, and test configurations as required to meet approved customer and site requirements.
  • Prepare customer-facing commissioning reports, test records, issue logs, and handover documentation, and coordinate with vendors and stakeholders for timely closure.
