Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited is seeking an experienced SAP Fiori and ABAP on HANA Developer to join our offshore delivery team in Bengaluru. You will work across the full S/4HANA stack, delivering custom Fiori applications, ABAP on HANA developments, and BTP extensions.

You will collaborate with onshore stakeholders, perform technical design reviews, and support production deployments while maintaining clean core principles and best practices.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years SAP experience with hands-on development.
• 2–4 end-to-end S/4HANA implementations, recent release preferred.
• Strong expertise in SAPUI5/Fiori, ABAP on HANA, and OData services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy custom SAP Fiori apps using SAPUI5, Fiori Elements, and guidelines.
• Develop ABAP on HANA including CDS views, AMDPs, OData, RAP, and BOPF.
• Create and consume OData services for Fiori and external clients.
• Implement extensions on SAP BTP using CAP, Workflows, and destinations.
• Performance-tune ABAP and HANA objects; follow clean core principles.
• Collaborate with onshore/offshore teams and participate in design reviews.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAP Fiori and ABAP on HANA Developer to join our offshore delivery team. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on expertise across the full S/4HANA development stack — custom Fiori applications, ABAP on HANA, BTP extensions, and integrations — with a proven track record of end‑to‑end S/4HANA implementations. The role demands strong technical depth, ownership, and the ability to collaborate effectively with onshore stakeholders in a global delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy custom SAP Fiori applications using SAPUI5, Fiori Elements, and the Fiori Design Guidelines.
• Build and optimize ABAP on HANA developments including CDS Views, AMDPs, OData services (V2/V4), BOPF, and the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP).
• Develop and consume OData services (Gateway/SEGW and RAP-based) for Fiori and external consumers.
• Implement side‑by‑side and in‑app extensions on SAP BTP using CAP, BTP Workflow, Build Apps, and BTP Destination/Connectivity services.
• Perform performance tuning of ABAP code, CDS views, and HANA database objects using SQL Monitor, Runtime Analysis, and Code Inspector / ATC.
• Adhere to clean core principles and SAP's recommended extensibility approach (key user, developer, and side‑side extensibility).
• Participate in requirements analysis, technical design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, and production deployments.
• Collaborate with onshore functional and technical teams, business analysts, and solution architects across geographies.
• Provide L3 support, root‑cause analysis, and defect resolution during hyper‑care and steady‑state phases.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• 6–10 years of total SAP experience with a strong hands‑on development background.
• Minimum 2–4 end‑to‑end S/4HANA implementations (greenfield or brownfield), with at least one on a recent S/4HANA release.
• Strong expertise in the following areas:
  • SAPUI5 / Fiori — custom app development, Fiori Elements (List Report, Object Page, Overview Page), Flexible Programming Model, and Fiori Launchpad configuration.
  • ABAP on HANA — CDS views (annotations, associations, table functions), AMDPs, BOPF, RAP, and OData (SEGW and RAP‑based services).
  • HANA‑optimized ABAP — code pushdown, performance tuning, ATC checks, and S/4HANA simplification list awareness.
  • SAP Gateway and OData service development & troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of at least one S/4HANA functional area (FI/CO, MM, SD, or PP) from a developer's perspective.

Preferred / Good‑to‑Have

• Knowledge of Fiori security, authorizations, and SAP UI Theme Designer.
• SAP certifications in ABAP for S/4HANA, Fiori, or BTP.
• Experience with SAP Build (Build Apps, Build Process Automation, Build Code).
• Exposure to ABAP Cloud / Steampunk (ABAP Environment on BTP).
• Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery methodology.
• Experience working in a global offshore‑onshore delivery model.

Soft Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration with onshore stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize across parallel workstreams, and meet committed deadlines.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on quality, reusability, and clean code practices.
• Mentoring and code‑review skills to guide junior developers in the offshore team.
