Overview
FactSet creates flexible, open data and software solutions for over 200,000 investment professionals worldwide, providing instant access to financial data and analytics that investors use to make crucial decisions. The role is based in the Impact Network engineering team and focuses on designing, automating, operating and troubleshooting FactSet's network systems, including WAN, LAN, SAN, WiFi, load-balancing, Internet ingress/egress, DNS, AWS Cloud networking, network automation and market data environments.
What You'll Do
- Act as a strong consultative resource for FactSet's clients, vendors and internal leaders.
- Project manage business and network team initiatives.
- Configure Cisco/Arista routers and switches, F5 load balancers, and AWS Cloud resources to provide services that integrate into client, vendor and internal networks.
- Build solid and long-lived interpersonal relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Serve as an escalation point for network down emergencies and layer 1-7 network troubleshooting.
- Research, design and implement new connections to market data providers and other third parties.
- Streamline existing and new processes using templates, automation and workflow systems.
- Possibly lead and mentor junior network engineers and help them achieve their career and project goals.
- Participate in shift rotation for Saturday & Sunday on-call coverage.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
- 4-8 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of routing & switching protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, and BGP routing.
- Experience with AWS services (VPC, TGW, DXG, ELB, Route53, Cloudflare, EfficientIP, Bind).
- Hands‑on experience with load balancers (F5 BIGIP, AWS ELBs) and application load balancers.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.) and experience with standard automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform).
- Proficiency with REST APIs, YAML, JSON, and other data models.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and isolate technical issues in a timely manner.
- Experience with network automation and workflow systems.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with LAN switching, F5/AWS load balancers, AWS/Azure cloud services.
- Hands‑on experience with DNS services (Route53, Cloudflare, EfficientIP, Bind).
- Knowledge of virtual data center and cloud networking, as well as public, private and hybrid network architectures.
- Experience designing networks, not just implementing and supporting.
- Competency in programming languages and/or scripting.
- Financial industry experience and/or large enterprise network background.
- Experience building, leading or mentoring a team.
- Unix, Linux, and Windows operating system experience.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCIE) or equivalent.
