Cloud4C Services in Hyderabad is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer (OpenStack & Ceph) to deploy, operate, and optimize Ceph-backed storage within OpenStack clouds. The role focuses on high availability, performance tuning, and data integrity for enterprise workloads.

The candidate will design CRUSH topologies, implement DR strategies, and automate Day-2 tasks using Ansible and Terraform. Strong Linux networking and observability skills are required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on Ceph administration and troubleshooting.

We are looking for a Senior Storage Engineer (OpenStack & Ceph) to join our team in Hyderabad! If you are a Ceph expert who thrives in OpenStack and cloud infrastructure ecosystems and loves tackling complex, enterprise-level L2 storage challenges, we want to talk to you.

You will be responsible for the deployment, operations, and advanced troubleshooting of storage platforms built on Ceph and integrated into OpenStack environments. Serving as an L2 escalation point, you will ensure high availability, performance tuning, and bulletproof data integrity across production cloud workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Ceph Cluster Management: Deploy, operate, and manage production Ceph clusters (RBD, CephFS, RGW/S3). Handle routine pool maintenance, capacity expansion/rebalancing, CRUSH map modifications, and cluster certificate updates.
• OpenStack Integration: Administer and optimize OpenStack storage drivers and components, including Cinder (block storage), Glance (image service), Swift/RGW (object storage), and Manila (file storage) backed by Ceph.
• L2 Operations & Incident Support: Troubleshoot critical storage incidents, including OSD down/out states, placement group (PG) errors, slow I/O, network bottlenecks, split-brain scenarios, and MDS journal recovery.
• Architecture & DR: Design and maintain rack- and host-aware CRUSH topologies for fault tolerance. Implement multi-site replication, disaster recovery strategies, and backup/restore mechanisms.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Automate Day-2 management operations using Ansible and Terraform. Streamline deployment and configuration changes across multi-node environments.
• Observability & Tuning: Build custom Prometheus and Grafana dashboards for storage KPIs. Perform deep-dive kernel/network tuning for optimized storage I/O throughput and latency.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce CephX authentication, implement encryption-at-rest and encryption-in-transit, and maintain platform security hardening standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Ceph Storage: 4+ years of hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Ceph daemons (MON, OSD, MDS, MGR, RGW).
• OpenStack Platform: 2+ years of experience integrating and managing Ceph as the primary backend for OpenStack services (Cinder, Glance, Manila).
• Linux OS & Networking: Deep understanding of RHEL/CentOS/Rocky Linux, kernel tuning for I/O (sysctl, disk schedulers), LVM, device mapper, and TCP/IP storage networking.
• Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in Ansible for configuration management and operational scripting using Bash or Python.
• Observability: Practical experience configuring Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager to monitor storage cluster health and performance metrics.
