Job summary

Extio Technology And Consulting Llp is seeking an experienced Linux infrastructure engineer in Hyderabad to design, deploy and manage KVM-based virtualization and Ceph storage clusters. The role covers VM lifecycle, networking, storage and automation tasks in production environments.

The candidate should have deep hands-on expertise with Ceph components, Linux administration across Debian/Ubuntu/RHEL, and strong scripting with Bash/Python.

Qualifications

• 38 years of experience in Linux infrastructure, virtualization and storage administration.
• Hands-on with KVM, QEMU and libvirt in production environments.
• Experience with Ceph storage components and architecture.
• Strong Linux administration on Debian/Ubuntu/RHEL-based systems.
• Understanding of Ceph architecture, RBD, CephFS, OSDs, MONs, MGRs, CRUSH and PGs.
• Proficient in Linux networking concepts and scripting with Bash/Python.

Job description

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and manage KVM-based virtualization platforms in production environments.
• Deploy and administer Ceph storage clusters including MON, MGR, OSD and MDS components.
• Manage Ceph RBD, CephFS and storage pools, including provisioning, performance tuning, capacity planning and troubleshooting.
• Configure and manage libvirt/QEMU/KVM, VM lifecycle, networking, storage and migration.
• Troubleshoot complex VM, KVM, Ceph, Linux, networking and storage performance issues.
• Perform Ceph cluster health monitoring, failure recovery, OSD replacement, rebalancing and capacity management.
• Implement and troubleshoot Ceph replication, CRUSH rules, placement groups and recovery/backfill operations.
• Work with Linux networking concepts including bridges, VLANs, VXLAN, bonding, routing and firewalling.
• Automate infrastructure deployment and operational tasks using Bash/Python/Ansible.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, patching, capacity expansion and production migrations.
• Monitor infrastructure using appropriate monitoring and logging tools and proactively identify potential issues.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in on-call/production support activities and incident resolution.
• Collaborate with development, networking and infrastructure teams to design reliable and scalable platforms.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 38 years of experience in Linux infrastructure, virtualization and/or storage administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with KVM, QEMU and libvirt.
• Good practical experience with Ceph, preferably in production environments.
• Strong Linux administration skills, particularly Debian/Ubuntu/RHEL-based systems.
• Good understanding of Ceph architecture, RBD, CephFS, OSDs, MONs, MGRs, CRUSH, pools and PGs.
• Strong understanding of Linux networking — TCP/IP, VLAN, bonding, bridges, routing, VXLAN and DNS.
• Experience troubleshooting storage, network and virtualization performance issues.
• Experience with Ansible and/or scripting using Bash/Python.
• Familiarity with high-availability and distributed systems concepts.
• Good understanding of hardware components including SSD/NVMe, HDD, RAID/HBA, NICs and server hardware.
• Ability to analyze logs, metrics and system-level issues and drive problems to resolution.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience working in production/private cloud or data-center environments is highly desirable.
