Orion Esolutions seeks an OpenStack L2 Engineer/Senior OpenStack Administrator to support a production OpenStack Private Cloud in Noida. The candidate will automate recurring tasks with Bash/Python, create runbooks, and mentor L1 engineers while ensuring ITIL-aligned processes and adherence to SLAs.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in OpenStack Administration in a production environment.
  • Experience with Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance and Keystone.
  • Strong Linux administration skills, preferably RHEL/CentOS.
  • Experience with OpenStack upgrades, patching and production maintenance.
  • Experience with OpenStack networking: OVS/OVN, VLAN, VXLAN, routers and floating IPs.

Responsibilities

  • Own and resolve escalated incidents from the L1 support team.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across compute, networking, storage, and identity services.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core OpenStack services including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone and Heat.
  • Troubleshoot complex OpenStack networking issues involving Open vSwitch (OVS) / OVN, VLAN, VXLAN, provider and tenant networks, routers, floating IPs and security groups.
  • Manage and troubleshoot storage integrations including Cinder backends and Ceph or equivalent storage.
  • Plan and execute OpenStack patching, maintenance and minor version upgrades with proper rollback procedures.
  • Mentor L1 engineers and support improvement of first-line resolution rates.
  • Coordinate with OEM/vendor support teams for platform-level issues and escalations.
  • Work within an ITIL-aligned support model and adhere to SLAs.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced OpenStack L2 Engineer / Senior OpenStack Administrator to provide second-line engineering support for a production OpenStack Private Cloud environment.

The candidate will be responsible for handling escalated incidents from L1, performing detailed troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), managing OpenStack platform configurations, supporting upgrades and patching activities, and automating recurring operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and resolve escalated incidents received from the L1 support team.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across compute, networking, storage, and identity services.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core OpenStack services including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone and Heat.
  • Troubleshoot complex OpenStack networking issues involving Open vSwitch (OVS) / OVN, VLAN, VXLAN, provider and tenant networks, routers, floating IPs and security groups.
  • Manage and troubleshoot storage integrations including Cinder backends and Ceph or equivalent enterprise storage.
  • Manage OpenStack projects, quotas, flavors, aggregates, availability zones and image lifecycle.
  • Monitor capacity, utilization and platform performance and identify potential infrastructure risks.
  • Plan and execute OpenStack patching, maintenance and minor version upgrades with proper rollback procedures.
  • Perform KVM and Libvirt troubleshooting for compute-related issues.
  • Automate recurring operational activities using Ansible, Bash and/or Python scripting.
  • Create and maintain technical runbooks, SOPs and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Mentor L1 engineers and support improvement of first-line resolution rates.
  • Participate in change management, problem management and post-incident reviews.
  • Coordinate with OEM/vendor support teams for platform-level issues and escalations.
  • Work within an ITIL-aligned support model and adhere to defined SLAs, escalation procedures and shift handover processes.
Required Skills
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in OpenStack Administration in a production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OpenStack architecture and inter-service dependencies.
  • Hands-on experience with Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance and Keystone.
  • Strong understanding of OpenStack networking including Open vSwitch (OVS) / OVN, VLAN, VXLAN, network namespaces, routers and floating IPs.
  • Strong Linux administration skills, preferably RHEL / CentOS.
  • Hands-on experience with KVM and Libvirt.
  • Experience with Ceph or comparable software-defined storage integrated with OpenStack.
  • Experience with Ansible for automation.
  • Good scripting knowledge in Bash and/or Python.
  • Experience with OpenStack upgrades, patching and production maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.
  • Good documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a production data-centre / private-cloud environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform certification or RHCE.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform Director / TripleO.
  • Exposure to OpenShift or Kubernetes running alongside OpenStack.
  • Experience with monitoring and log aggregation tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and ELK.
  • Experience in Telecom, BFSI or large regulated data-centre environments.
Candidate Requirements
  • Candidates should be currently based in Delhi NCR or be willing to relocate to Noida.
  • Must be comfortable working 24x7 rotational shifts, including night shifts and weekends.
  • Must be willing to work onsite at the client location in Noida.
  • Notice period of 2030 days preferred; candidates with longer notice periods may be considered if buyout is possible.
  • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/MCA or equivalent in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.
Important

This is an onsite role in Noida and requires willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment. Candidates with strong hands-on production OpenStack L2 experience will be preferred.
