Job summary

JioStar in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to contribute to platform design, solve complex problems, and build scalable systems at enormous scale. You will guide the team and help realize their maximum potential.

You will work on end-to-end architecture, tackle performance bottlenecks, and mentor developers while collaborating with product managers to decompose large projects into manageable tasks across Mobile, Web, and Living Room platforms.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of development experience in related roles.
• Senior staff engineer with ownership of architecture and delivery.
• Experience with high-scale distributed systems and modern microservices.

Key responsibilities:

• Serves as the functional lead, possess deep knowledge of core systems and takes full responsibility for the team's code, design, and project delivery, ensuring high quality and on-time completion
• Tackles complex technical challenges independently for complex systems, demonstrating technical depth and proficiency in multiple programming languages
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and areas for optimization
• Contribute to architectural discussions, propose innovative solutions, and evaluate trade-offs to make informed technical decisions
• Collaborate with product managers to decompose large projects into manageable tasks and prioritize work effectively
• Build the next-generation user experience and the platforms required to enable intuitive content discovery for our customers
• Work with the engineering team to optimize applications for performance and scalability across various platforms, Mobile, Web, and Living Room devices
• Provide mentorship and guidance to other developers

Skills and attributes for success:

• Strong coding and designing skills (Java or Golang)
• Experience in building high-scale distributed domain-driven microservices
• Proficiency with databases like MySQL, NoSql (Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB)
• Embrace new technologies and work with various tools and technologies to achieve the desired functionality
• Experience with AWS stacks like SQS, Dynamo DB, EKS, Aurora, etc. will be an added advantage
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in production environments
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and collaborate well within a team environment to achieve desired results

Preferred education and experience:

• Bachelor's/master's in computer science or a related field with 7-10 years of development experience
