Job summary

ServiceTitan in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the GL team as the first in-house accounting hire in India, bridging the outsourced firm with the global team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

You will manage general accounting processes, month-end close, GST/TDS, and statutory filings while collaborating with Tax, FP&A, HR, and Legal to develop the India accounting function.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience with strong knowledge of Indian statutory and tax compliance (GST, TDS, Professional Tax, PF/ESI)
• Solid understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting; reconciling local statutory books to GAAP books
• Experience with outsourced accounting firms and ownership with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Operate general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close with global deadlines
• Reconcile and analyze GL accounts, including multi-currency and complex bank accounts
• Prepare schedules/footnotes for local financial statements compliant with standards
• Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation
• Support GST, TDS, and other statutory filings with outsourcing partners
• Analyze differences between statutory books and GAAP
• Monitor changes in Indian tax legislation
• Liaise between India and global accounting teams and outsourced firm
• Review vendor invoices with GST treatment and GL codes; support payroll accounting
• Serve as point of contact for India-based employees on accounting queries
• Assist with statutory audit preparation and coordination
• Assist with policy/process development for India entity
• Collaborate with Tax, FP&A, HR, and Legal on initiatives
• Support special projects as assigned

ServiceTitan is looking for a Senior Accountant with strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills to join the GL team. This is a foundational role — the first in-house accounting hire in India — responsible for key areas of the general accounting function, bridging our outsourced accounting firm and the global team, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This position will work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager on key processes, policies, and building out the India accounting function.

What You’ll Do

• Perform general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close activities while meeting global close deadlines.
• Reconcile, analyze, and resolve questions regarding assigned general ledger accounts timely and accurately, including multi-currency and complex bank accounts.
• Prepare supporting schedules and footnotes for local financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including capitalization, depreciation runs, asset disposals, and periodic physical verification; ensure proper classification and accounting treatment in line with company policy.
• Support GST, TDS, Professional Tax, and other India statutory filings in collaboration with the outsourced accounting firm and external advisors.
• Analyze differences between local statutory books and GAAP books (IFRS/US GAAP), including preparation of schedules supporting reconciling items.
• Monitor changes in Indian tax legislation applicable to the tech industry and assess potential impacts.
• Serve as the primary liaison between ServiceTitan's global accounting team and the outsourced accounting firm, reviewing deliverables and coordinating information flow.
• Review and process vendor invoices with correct GST treatment, TDS deductions, and GL coding; support India payroll accounting and statutory deductions.
• Act as the first point of contact for India-based employees on accounting-related queries, including expense reimbursements, payroll questions, and general finance matters; elevate to the Senior Accounting Manager as needed.
• Support the local statutory audit process, including preparation of audit schedules, responding to auditor queries, and coordinating with the outsourced firm and external auditors.
• Assist with the development, maintenance, and documentation of policies and procedures for the India entity.
• Partner with the internal systems team on initiatives to enhance accounting accuracy and automation of accounting processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Tax, FP&A, HR, and Legal.
• Support management in completing special projects and other tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of accounting experience with strong knowledge of Indian statutory and tax compliance (GST, TDS, Professional Tax, PF/ESI).
• Solid understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting; experience reconciling local statutory books to GAAP books.
• Experience working with or managing an outsourced accounting firm; ability to take ownership with minimal in-country supervision.
• CA (ICAI) qualification preferred; ACCA or CPA also considered.
• Experience in Workday Financials preferred; proficiency in Tally and Paybooks is a strong plus.
• Advanced user of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Comfort using AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate research, draft documentation, and support day-to-day accounting workflows.
• Ability to build or contribute to process automations and workflows — experience with tools such as Claude, Google Apps Script, or similar is a plus.
• Ability to identify and analyze problems and provide solutions independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail, follow-up skills, strong work ethic, and accountability.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies.
