UnitedHealth Group is seeking an accomplished Engineering Lead to guide architecture and deliver large-scale software platforms. You will mentor teams, drive agile processes, and collaborate with product managers to align technical work with business goals.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years in software development, 3+ years in leadership, and solid experience with Java, Spring Boot, Azure AKS, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot to build scalable backend services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services including AKS, App Services, and Azure DevOps.
  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and enterprise application integration.
  • Deep Kubernetes knowledge for container orchestration and microservices deployment.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Guide architecture and design decisions, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions

  • Budget & Resource Planning: Manage team budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships when applicable
  • Risk Management: Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies early in the development lifecycle
  • Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Technical Expertise
    • Solid hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for building scalable backend services
    • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services including AKS, App Services, and Azure DevOps
    • Exposure to AI/ML concepts, frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and integration into enterprise applications
    • Deep understanding of Kubernetes for container orchestration and microservices deployment
  • Leadership & Management
    • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and driving engineering excellence
    • Demonstrated solid stakeholder management and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams
  • Architecture & Design
    • Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code
  • Soft Skills
    • Demonstrated strategic thinking with a problem-solving mindset
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineering talent
    • Demonstrated solid collaboration and decision-making skills
