Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Lead to drive end-to-end delivery of scalable, data‑driven healthcare applications. You will design high/low level architectures, lead cross‑functional teams, and contribute hands‑on across Java, Spring Boot, React, and Azure.

You will mentor engineers, enforce coding standards, and ensure security, compliance, and robust CI/CD practices across the platform while collaborating with product, architecture and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering and application development.
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience delivering data-driven solutions using Snowflake, DBT, and semantic data models.
• Experience leading technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and development teams.
• Solid expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and React JS.
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, API integrations, and modern engineering patterns.
• Solid knowledge of secure software development, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution delivery including HLD/LLD, architecture reviews, and roadmaps.
• Design and develop scalable full-stack apps using Java, Spring Boot, React and Azure.
• Build data solutions with Snowflake, DBT, and semantic layers.
• Remain hands-on with coding, reviews, troubleshooting, tuning, and production support.
• Mentor engineering teams, enforce standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with product/architecture/business to translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Drive security, vulnerability remediation, dependency management, and risk mitigation.
• Partner with Security/Compliance/Audit to meet regulatory requirements and policies.
• Establish CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability and operational excellence across the platform.
• Abide by company policies including work location, team changes and flexible work arrangements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end solution delivery, including High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), architecture reviews, and technical roadmaps
• Design and develop scalable full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React JS, and Azure cloud services
• Build and integrate modern data solutions leveraging Snowflake, DBT, and semantic layer architectures
• Remain highly hands‑on, contributing to coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and production support
• Lead and mentor engineering teams, driving engineering excellence, development standards, and best practices
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Drive application security, vulnerability remediation, dependency management, and platform risk mitigation efforts
• Partner with Security, Compliance, Audit, and Risk teams to ensure adherence to enterprise policies, regulatory requirements, and healthcare industry standards
• Establish CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability, and operational excellence practices across the platform
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering and application development
• Hands‑on experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native application architectures
• Experience delivering data‑driven solutions using Snowflake, DBT, and semantic data models
• Experience leading technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and development teams
• Solid expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and React JS
• Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, API integrations, and modern engineering patterns
• Solid knowledge of secure software development, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerised deployments
• Healthcare domain expertise, including experience with regulated data environments and compliance requirements
• Familiarity with DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to AI/ML‑powered applications and modern data platforms
