Job summary

Optum India is seeking a software engineer to design, develop, test, and support scalable enterprise applications. You will lead API and microservices work, adopt cloud-native technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into solutions.

Responsibilities include modernizing applications, driving CI/CD, ensuring security, and mentoring junior engineers within Agile teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Solid experience in Java/.NET and modern web technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, GitHub, automated testing, and application monitoring.
• Understanding of database design, performance tuning, and distributed systems.
• Proven expertise in API development, Microservices, Cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), and DevOps practices.
• Proven analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Lead the development of medium to large-scale software solutions using modern engineering practices and cloud-native technologies.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and contribute to technical roadmaps and modernization efforts.
• Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, batch processes, and integration solutions with performance and reliability in mind.
• Drive application modernization, automation, and cloud adoption initiatives to improve efficiency and operational excellence.
• Perform code reviews and mentor junior engineers, promoting best practices and secure coding standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with DevOps and SRE teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automated deployment processes.
• Support vulnerability remediation efforts and drive continuous improvement in security posture.
• Work within Agile delivery teams, participating in sprint planning and release activities.
• Contribute to AI-assisted development initiatives and innovation programs.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
• Serve as a technical SME for assigned applications and provide guidance during delivery and support.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support highly scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise applications supporting critical business capabilities
• Lead the development of medium to large-scale software solutions using modern engineering practices, design patterns, and cloud-native technologies
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and contribute to technical roadmaps, modernization efforts, and strategic technology initiatives
• Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, batch processes, and integration solutions while ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Drive application modernization, automation, and cloud adoption initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence
• Perform code reviews and mentor junior engineers, promoting engineering best practices, code quality, and secure coding standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring incidents
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, audit, and regulatory requirements through secure software development practices
• Partner with DevOps and SRE teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, observability, and automated deployment processes
• Support vulnerability remediation efforts and drive continuous improvement in application security posture
• Work within Agile delivery teams, actively participating in sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and release activities
• Contribute to AI-assisted software development initiatives, productivity improvements, and innovation programs where applicable
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, support procedures, and operational runbooks
• Serve as a technical SME for assigned applications and provide guidance during project delivery, production support, and system enhancements
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications

• Graduate degree or equivalent experience
• Solid experience in Java/.NET and modern web technologies
• Experience with CI/CD tools, GitHub, automated testing, and application monitoring
• Understanding of database design, performance tuning, and distributed systems
• Proven expertise in API development, Microservices, Cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), and DevOps practices
• Proven solid analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualification

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and healthcare domain experience
