Job summary

Cubet in Infopark, Kochi, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Python to own backend architecture and delivery of high-performance microservices. You will design APIs, manage data models with PostgreSQL/SQLAlchemy, and lead code quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with Python.
• Strong command over FastAPI, Pydantic, and asynchronous programming in Python.
• Strong expertise in relational databases using PostgreSQL and ORM mapping with SQLAlchemy.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive architectural decisions focusing on Event-Driven and Microservices architectures.
• Establish engineering best practices, implement design patterns (Repository, Unit of Work), and lead code quality initiatives.
• Build, scale, and maintain high-performance backend microservices using Python, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
• Design efficient APIs and implement asynchronous workflows and data models.
• Architect and implement resilient workflow designs for long-running automations; build Kafka pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Own and drive architectural decisions focusing on Event-Driven and Microservices architectures.
• Establish engineering best practices, implement design patterns (Repository, Unit of Work), and lead code quality initiatives.
• Conduct architectural reviews and comprehensive code reviews to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Backend & API Development

• Build, scale, and maintain high-performance backend microservices using Python, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
• Design efficient, robust APIs and implement asynchronous workflows and data models.
• Manage data persistence and schema evolutions using PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, and Alembic.

Workflow Orchestration & Integration

• Architect and implement resilient, activity-based workflow designs for long-running business process automations.
• Build event streaming pipelines and messaging integrations utilizing Kafka.
• Integrate enterprise systems and operational tooling, including ServiceNow and change management lifecycles.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Drive comprehensive automated testing suites utilizing Pytest to ensure high coverage and resilience.
• Maintain dependency management and code formatting pipelines using Poetry and pre-commit hooks.

DevOps & Deployment

• Containerize services using Docker and Docker Compose for seamless local and production environments.
• Collaborate with DevOps to build CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and deployments using Helm Charts.

Team Mentoring & Collaboration

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical training, code reviews, and architectural guidance.
• Translate business and domain requirements into production-ready technical solutions.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of software development experience with Python.
• Strong command over FastAPI, Pydantic, and asynchronous programming in Python.
• Strong expertise in relational databases using PostgreSQL and ORM mapping with SQLAlchemy.
• Deep hands-on experience with Event-Driven Architecture, Microservices, and robust API design.
• Strong foundation in automated testing frameworks, especially Pytest.
• Hands-on containerization experience with Docker and Docker Compose.
• Proficiency with Git version control and code collaboration workflows.

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing and managing workflows and long-running business process automation (e.g., Temporal Workflows).
• Hands-on experience with event messaging using Apache Kafka.
• Experience with database migration tools such as Alembic.
• Familiarity with architectural design patterns such as Repository Pattern, Unit of Work Pattern, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Experience with Helm Charts, CI/CD pipeline setup, and release automation.
• Exposure to ITSM operations, ServiceNow integrations, Change Request Lifecycles, and Ansible Automation Platform.
