About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer- Python with expertise in building scalable backend systems, APIs, and platform services that power modern data and AI applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Python-based backend development, distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and microservices, along with exposure to data engineering and modern data platforms. This role requires a self-driven engineer who can independently design and develop backend services, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the architecture of enterprise-scale platforms supporting analytics, AI, machine learning, and real-time data applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Platform Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI, and Flask. Build high-performance microservices and distributed systems for data and AI-driven applications. Apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), design patterns, and software engineering best practices. Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and security. Implement robust authentication, authorization, monitoring, and observability frameworks.
- Distributed Systems & Data Processing: Develop backend services that integrate with large-scale data platforms and analytics systems. Build and optimize batch and real-time data processing workflows using technologies such as Kafka, Apache Beam, and Apache Flink. Design scalable solutions for high-volume data ingestion, transformation, and processing. Work with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Glue, Dataflow, or equivalent technologies.
- Cloud, DevOps & Infrastructure: Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure. Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes. Develop CI/CD pipelines and adopt DataOps/DevOps best practices. Establish monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability for production systems.
- Collaboration & Technical Leadership: Collaborate with Product, Software, Data, and AI/ML teams. Own technical initiatives from design through deployment and maintenance. Mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence across teams. Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision-making.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Backend Engineering or Software Engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, Flask, OOP, and software design principles.
- Experience building scalable REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming technologies.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Excellent problem-solving and system design skills.
- Preferred: Experience with Data Engineering concepts, ELT/ETL pipelines, and workflow orchestration (Airflow/Dagster).
- Good to have: experience with dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Beam, or Apache Flink.
- Good to have: exposure to Lakehouse architectures (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture).
- Good to have: experience with building AI/ML or RAG infrastructure.
- Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and feature stores.
