Barracuda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Bengaluru to design, develop, and optimize backend systems using C/C++/PERL for scalable, high-performance solutions. You will mentor juniors, collaborate with product teams, and drive architectural decisions while integrating AI capabilities to enhance threat detection and automation.

Ideal candidates bring 6–8+ years in software development, strong SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL), CI/CD experience, and proficiency with Linux, GDB, and Strace.

Qualifications

• 6 to 8+ years in software development using PERL/C/C++.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL and MySQL, with optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (GitHub).
• Proficiency in debugging with GDB and Strace.
• Familiarity with Linux and networking protocols (SMTP, DNS, TLS).
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC.
• Front-end knowledge (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, AJAX) is advantageous.
• Experience in email security, cloud-connected appliances, or network security.
• Familiarity with Perl, Python, or Bash scripting.
• Golang knowledge is a plus.
• AI/ML integration experience, including LLMs or AI APIs.

What You'll Be Working On

• Designing, developing, and optimizing robust backend systems using C/C++/PERL and other languages, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Guiding and mentoring junior developers, enforcing best practices, and promoting technical excellence within the team.
• Collaborating with product managers, customers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into cutting-edge solutions.
• Conducting thorough code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to high coding standards.
• Staying ahead of industry trends and technologies, influencing architectural decisions and technology roadmaps.
• Contributing to a supportive and inclusive team culture that values diverse perspectives and fosters creativity.
• Integrating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities into our systems to drive automation, intelligent threat detection, and advanced product features.

What You Bring To The Role

• Experience: 6 to 8+ years in software development in PERL/C/C++
• Database Proficiency: Strong knowledge of SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL, including optimization techniques.
• DevOps and CI/CD: Experience with continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and version control systems like GitHub
• Debugging Skills: Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting using tools such as GDB, and Strace
• System Knowledge: Familiarity with Linux operating systems and networking protocols (e.g., SMTP, DNS, TLS)
• Development Practices: Understanding of Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle
• Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, AJAX) is advantageous.
  • Experience in email security, cloud-connected appliances, or network security is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Perl, Python, or Bash.
  • Familiarity with Golang is a plus
• AI Integration: Proven experience integrating AI/ML technologies into production environments, including working with LLMs, crafting effective prompts, or utilizing AI APIs to solve complex engineering problems.
