Job summary

NielsenIQ in Chennai is seeking a Senior Engineer-ETL to join our Connect Technology team, building a global data platform on Microsoft Azure. You will design and implement ETL processes using Python, Snowflake, and SQL, enabling robust data pipelines and analytics.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, DevOps pipelines, and modern data workflows, focusing on scalable data solutions and data quality across heterogeneous sources.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in writing complex SQL.
• AI fundamentals (GitHub Copilot, prompts) for code generation and SDLC phases.
• Strong data warehousing concepts and modelling reporting datamarts.
• Have hands-on experience designing ETL enhancements.
• Strong fundamentals with Python, Airflow, FastAPI; OO programming.
• Must have experience in cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, debug and enhance applications using Python, Snowflake, Postgres, Azure, Airflow, GitHub, Kubernetes, Docker as core languages.
• Deploy application components via CI/CD pipelines using AI in-house agents.
• Ingest data from multiple sources in different formats.
• Perform complex business transformations and create reportable datamarts.
• Build utilities for monitoring and automating repetitive functions.
• Collaborate with Agile cross-functional teams - internal and external clients.

About the role

Our Connect Technology teams are working on our new Connect platform, a unified, global, open data ecosystem powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients around the world rely on Connect data and insights to innovate and grow.
As a Data Engineer, you’ll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and supporting cutting-edge technologies such as Python, Snowflake, Postgres, Complex SQL, GitHub co-pilot using prompts, vscode, AI fundamentals for code generation and other SDLS phases, Azure cloud Services, GIT Hub, Airflow, Kubernetes, Docker. These technologies are deployed using DevOps pipelines leveraging Azure, Kubernetes, GIT Hub actions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, Design, Develop, troubleshoot, debug and make application enhancements using Python, Fast API, Snowflake, Postgres, Complex SQL, Azure cloud Services,Airflow, GIT Hub, Kubernetes, Docker as the core development languages

• Collaborate with Agile cross-functional teams - internal and external clients including Operations, Infrastructure, Tech Ops

Required skills

• 6-10 Years of years of applicable software engineering experience
• Strong hands on experience in writing complex SQL
• AI fundamentals (GitHub copilot, vscode, prompts) for code generation and automation of all SDLC phases
• Strong fundamentals in data warehousing concepts and modelling reporting datamarts
• Have hands on experience in designing ETL enhancements and
• Strong fundamentals with experience in front-end and backend object-oriented programming, including proficiency in Python, Airflow, Fast API,
• Must have experience in cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure.

Nice to Have Skills

• Good to have experience with DevOps Technologies as GIT Hub, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker.
• Familiarity integrating Restful APIs and an understanding of microservices architecture
• Solid knowledge of relational databases, preferably Snowflake & PostgreSQL.
• Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface across cross-functional technology teams and the business
• Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
