PowerSchool is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Bengaluru to join our R&D team. You will work on full-stack web applications, services, and APIs within an Agile SCRUM environment, leveraging AI-powered tooling to enhance productivity, code quality, and security practices.

You will collaborate with QA, Design, and PM to deliver cross-platform integrations and scalable solutions that improve user experience across our education software suite.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Experience delivering full-stack frontend and backend work.
• Ability to work in an Agile SCRUM environment and collaborate with QA/Design/PM.

Responsibilities:

Description

The Software Engineering team is a group of full stack developers who design, develop, and maintain our products, tools, and infrastructure.

Your day-to-day job will consist of:

• Work as part of an Agile SCRUM team in the planning, scoping, estimation, and execution of technical solutions.
• Develop scalable web applications, services, and APIs that meet business and customer requirements.
• Investigate and resolve issues reported for web applications by following engineering best practices, including writing maintainable code, developing unit tests, and applying appropriate design patterns and algorithms.
• Analyze application performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability, scalability, and user experience.
• Assist with security updates, vulnerability remediation, and secure coding practices across web applications.
• Develop client-side and/or server-side application components as a member of a cross-functional engineering team.
• Develop and enhance software solutions, frameworks, and tools that support product functionality and internal engineering initiatives.
• Leverage AI-powered tools and technologies in daily engineering activities to improve productivity, code quality, testing, troubleshooting, and development efficiency.
• Contribute to an AI-first engineering approach by incorporating automation, AI-assisted development practices, and intelligent solutions into software delivery processes.
• Design, develop, and maintain integrations across multiple applications, services, and platforms to deliver seamless end-to-end user experiences.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant and related work experience.
• Bachelorâs degree or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
• Additional experience may be substitute for an advanced Degree.
• Experience owning the responsibility for delivering frontend and backend work as well as coordinating with QA, Design, and PMÂ
• Willingness to accept responsibility not only for your own work but the work of the team as aÂwholeÂ
• Demonstrate adaptability by learning and adopting new technologies, tools, and engineering practices, including AI-powered solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with other engineering and product teams to solve complex integration challenges and deliver seamless cross-platform experiences.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks.Â
• Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and React for building modern web applications.
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud Services and cloud-native application development.
• Understanding of Serverless Architecture and event-driven application design.
• Experience with or knowledge of AWS Lambda and serverless computing concepts.
• Familiarity with DynamoDB or other NoSQL database technologies.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and integration patterns across distributed systems.
• Knowledge of Micro Frontend architecture and frontend application modularization concepts.
• Familiarity with Module Federation for scalable frontend development and application integration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Auth0 for authentication and authorization solutions.
• Familiarity with AI tools, AI-assisted development workflows, and modern AI technologies.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern web development practices.
• Experience with Elasticsearch for search, indexing, and analytics capabilities.
