Walker Digital Table Systems (WDTS) in Gurugram, India, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our R&D team. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot within a distributed architecture.

Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Hardware teams to deliver production-ready software, review code, mentor juniors, and continuously evaluate new technologies to drive innovation.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3–6 years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong Java/J2EE and Spring Boot proficiency.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and multi-tier architecture.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
• SQL/PL-SQL expertise and relational database design.
• Familiarity with API gateways, load balancing (Nginx), and caching (Redis).
• Excellent problem-solving, performance, and reliability focus.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Contribute to the technical design, development, and innovation of software within a distributed N-tier architecture.
• Translate product concepts into well-defined technical solutions and production-ready software.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven apps using Apache Kafka.
• Design, optimize, and maintain SQL/PL-SQL queries and data access layers.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to design decisions.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Hardware teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices and code quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues with diagnostics and performance analysis.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.
• Continuously evaluate new technologies to drive innovation.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Research & Development team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable backend systems, and transforming ideas into production-ready software.

You will work on designing and developing next-generation backend solutions within a distributed architecture, collaborating closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and fellow engineers to deliver innovative, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Contribute to the technical design, development, and innovation of software solutions within a distributed N-tier architecture.
• Translate product concepts, business requirements, and high-level ideas into well-defined technical solutions and production-ready software.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven applications using Apache Kafka.
• Design, optimize, and maintain SQL/PL-SQL queries, database schemas, and data access layers.
• Participate in application architecture discussions and contribute to both high-level and low-level design decisions.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, QA, DevOps, and Hardware teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices, maintainability, and code quality.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues using diagnostic tools, logs, heap/thread dumps, and performance analysis.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the team.
• Continuously evaluate new technologies and engineering practices to drive innovation within the R&D organization.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–6 years of hands‑on experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in Java/J2EE and Spring Boot.
• Excellent understanding of Object-Oriented Design, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and multi-tier application architecture.
• Hands‑on experience developing event-driven applications using Apache Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
• Strong knowledge of SQL/PL‑SQL and relational databases, with experience in query optimization and database design.
• Understanding of reverse proxies, API gateways, and load balancing technologies (e.g., Nginx).
• Exposure to application-level and centralized caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis or similar).
• Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and critical thinking skills with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Good to Have

• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Exposure to microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
