Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, implement and maintain high-availability network software, bringing new functionality to automation, observability and identity management.

You will collaborate with international teams, mentor junior engineers, and support the full product life cycle from ideation through operation, ensuring scalable, reliable performance across the world's largest web traffic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 4+ years experience with Python, Go or shell scripting
• 4+ years development on Linux/Unix
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and TLS/SSL
• Experience with Git/Stash and Perforce version control systems
• Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills

You will be part of a diverse team that designs, develops and maintains high-reliability systems. You'll have an opportunity to work and collaborate in an international environment with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders and other developers. You will be responsible to deliver high-quality software solutions. These solutions include distributed systems with both web and console interfaces.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Analyzing, designing, and implementing high availability systems software
• Bringing new functionality to a portfolio of services focused on automation, observability and identity management.
• Supporting the full product life cycle - ideation, implementation, operation.
• Improving the ability of our software systems for testing, deployment, monitoring and maintenance
• Mentoring less experienced engineers to ensure quality solutions are implemented
• Evaluating emerging trends and technologies related to network operations and automation

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, or related field
• Have at least 4 years experience with programming in Python, Go and/or shell script
• Have at least 4 years development experience on Linux/ Unix platforms
• Have knowledge of common internet protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and/or TLS/SSL
• Have experience with git/Stash and Perforce version control systems.
• Demonstrate exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities & a good team player.
