Job summary

Moody’s is seeking a senior software engineer to design and build production-grade backend services and modern desktop components in C#/.NET Core. You’ll work with Azure/AWS, MVVM-enabled WPF, and data pipelines in structured finance. The role emphasizes scalable serverless architectures, mentorship, and collaboration with product stakeholders.

You’ll contribute to CI/CD, DevOps, and documentation while staying current with AI-assisted development tools and new technologies.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing and building production-ready backend services in C# / .NET Core.
• Experience with desktop app development using WPF and MVVM (Prism or similar).
• 1-2 years of experience with Redshift; strong SQL/NoSQL knowledge.
• Experience with serverless/microservices on Azure; scalable event-driven systems.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and data engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

Skills and Competencies

• 6+ years designing and building production-ready backend services in C# / .NET Core, with strong command of asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and clean/layered architecture.
• Experience with desktop application development using WPF and the MVVM pattern (Prism or similar), including real-time is plus.
• 1-2 years of experience working with Redshift
• Strong proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases and a solid understanding of system architecture, secure coding practices, authentication, authorization, and encryption
• Proven experience building and operating serverless and microservices workloads on Azure— supporting scalable, reliable, event- and queue-driven systems (Azure Storage Queues, orchestrators).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
• Familiarity with IVY C# is plus for data extraction.
• Knowledge of finance, particularly structured finance, is a plus
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.

Education

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• You will be involved in all aspects of PDLC, working directly with key business stakeholders to build and support structured finance applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain and supporting desktop/UI/Console components using C#/.NET and modern Azure/AWS technologies, working independently with minimal supervision.
• Architect, implement, and operate scalable, reliable, cost-efficient serverless applications and ETL pipelines on Azure/AWS, making independent technical decisions within agreed standards.
• Develop reusable pipeline patterns, frameworks, and templates to improve scalability and efficiency
• Take ownership of significant components, driving delivery from technical design through deployment and production support.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship, supporting skill development and fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
• Work closely with product managers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps improvements to streamline deployments and improve system reliability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for system designs, data workflows, and APIs.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, including AI capabilities, and participate in team ceremonies to align solutions with strategic goals.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in data engineering and platform design

About the team

The Data Engineering team in the Structured Finance domain focuses on acquiring, processing, enriching, and maintaining data using in-house ETL workflows, modeling tools, and deal update frameworks. We deliver critical data for waterfall cash flow modeling products, which leverage extensive securitization deal libraries (e.g., CMBS, ABS, RMBS) and are widely used by industry leaders. We are seeking a senior software engineer to join our team and work on designing efficient data pipelines, developing scalable data extraction tools, and improving data processing workflows. This role offers hands-on experience in structured finance and the chance to tackle complex technical challenges while refining your problem-solving and engineering skills.
