Job summary

ISS STOXX seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and deploy our financial data distribution platform from Gurugram. You will contribute to a modern, componentized stack on GCP and collaborate with data and product teams to migrate services.

You will own end-to-end development, from design through operation, applying an API-first approach, rigorous testing, and AI-assisted engineering to deliver reliable, scalable solutions for global clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production software in the cloud.
• Strong design fundamentals and modular thinking.
• Track record of shipping large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Go and SQL.
• Frontend experience with TypeScript and React/Angular a plus.
• API-first approach with batch and real-time services.

ISS Stoxx is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and deploy our financial data distribution platform for Gurugram location.

Overview

We are in the process of a fully re-architecting our distribution ecosystem to a modern componentized set of solutions using GCP technologies. In this IC role, you will collaborate with Principal Data Distribution Engineer and Software Product Management to refine designs and build, prove and migrate to the new stack.

Investors rely on ISS STOXX data to make decisions every day. We are rebuilding how that data reaches them: a fully re-architected, componentized distribution platform on GCP. You will help build the new stack from design through migration.

You will work with the Principal Data Distribution Engineer and Product Management to turn ambiguous requirements into well-designed services, APIs and applications that run in production. You own what you build, from design through operation. You use AI-assisted engineering, including agentic harnesses, to move faster, and you stay accountable for the quality of what ships.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build and operation of backend services and APIs that deliver data to global clients.
• Build the front-end applications on top of them, such as client portals and internal entitlement and administration tooling.
• Make sound design decisions, document the tradeoffs, and defend them in review.
• Use agentic harnesses to ship features end to end, with rigorous testing and human review.
• Turn product needs and enterprise policies into simple, secure and scalable solutions.
• Improve the reliability, performance and observability of the platform.
• Raise the bar for the team through code and design reviews, mentoring and shared learning.

Requirements

• 5+ years building and operating production software in the cloud, as a backend or full stack engineer.
• Strong design fundamentals: you can break an ambiguous problem into modular, testable, evolvable components, and you can explain why you chose one design over another.
• A track record of shipping and owning large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Go and SQL, plus the judgment to pick the right tool for the problem.
• Front-end experience with TypeScript and a modern framework such as React or Angular is good to have.
• An API-first approach, with experience building batch and real-time API services.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, and user-entitlement management.
• Hands‑on experience with GCP across database, serverless, containerization and API.
• Hands‑on experience using generative AI and agentic harnesses to deliver production features.
• A bias for simplicity, automation and observability, and experience delivering incremental value in agile teams.
• Clear written and verbal communication, and experience working in global teams.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Desirable

• Apigee API management experience.
• Data engineering experience, such as batch or streaming pipelines and BigQuery.
• Experience building and integrating agentic RAG solutions.
• Experience with data cataloguing.
• Familiarity with financial market data, index data models, and feeds.
