Job summary

Amtech seeks an engineer to contribute to a large, mature enterprise codebase, solving real-world operational problems within corrugated manufacturing software. You will work independently in a complex environment, handling scheduling, production control, plant-floor interfaces, reporting, and system integrations.

Qualifications

• Strong Core Java experience with Java 17 features.
• Experience with multi-module Gradle builds.
• Solid understanding of Java EE technologies: Servlets, EJB 3, JPA/Hibernate, JTA.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting on Apache TomEE/OpenEJB.
• Familiarity with WAR/EAR packaging, datasource config, and container administration.
• Strong SQL Server skills: SQL development and optimization; schema design.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful HTTP APIs.
• JSON libraries such as Jackson or Gson.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java applications in a mature enterprise codebase using Java 17.
• Manage multi-module Gradle builds and ensure code quality.
• Deploy and troubleshoot apps on TomEE/OpenEJB and manage WAR/EAR packaging.
• Design, optimize, and query SQL Server databases; implement RESTful APIs.
• Work in Windows-based environment using Eclipse; leverage PowerShell for build/deploy tasks.
• Collaborate via Git/GitHub workflows and maintain robust documentation.

Role Description

You'll work on software that supports corrugated manufacturing operations, including scheduling, production control, plant-floor interfaces, reporting, and system integrations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Java Platform

• Strong Core Java experience using modern language features (Java 17).
• Experience with multi-module Gradle builds.
• Solid understanding of Java EE technologies, including:
• Servlets
• EJB 3 (Session and Entity Beans)
• JPA with Hibernate
• Container-managed transactions (JTA)

Application Server & Deployment

• Experience deploying and troubleshooting applications on Apache TomEE/OpenEJB.
• Familiarity with WAR/EAR packaging, datasource configuration, and container administration.

Data & Integration

• Strong SQL Server skills, including:
• SQL development and optimization
• Database schema design and analysis
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful HTTP APIs.
• Working knowledge of JSON serialization libraries such as Jackson or Gson.

Development Environment

• Windows-based development experience.
• Comfortable working in a Windows-based development environment (the team primarily uses Eclipse).
• Experience with PowerShell and Windows batch scripting for build, deployment, and operational tasks.
• Proficient with Git and GitHub workflows.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus.

• Reporting: BIRT 4.19
• Desktop UI development with Java Swing and SwingX.
• Experience designing manufacturing or industrial touchscreen user interfaces.
• Familiarity with transport layers: TCP/IP, Serial
• Testing with JUnit 4.

Nice to Have:

• Proficiency in scripting languagessuch as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
• Ideal candidates combine engineering depth with governance awareness
• Industry certifications preferred, such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or AWS Security Specialty
