Job summary

OrbitShift AI is hiring an SDE II to independently own features and services powering our enterprise sales AI platform. You will design, build, test, deploy, and operate features end-to-end with limited supervision, applying SOLID principles and established patterns.

You will mentor SDE 1s and contribute to system design while using AI judiciously to improve code quality. You should have 3–7 years of hands-on software engineering, strong low-level and system design skills, and experience with

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong low-level and system design for moderately-scoped problems; comfortable owning design reviews.
• Proficiency in SOLID principles and design patterns with sound judgment.
• Experience in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures (AWS).
• Good database fundamentals (relational and/or NoSQL) and solid testing discipline.

At OrbitShift, we are building the world's first AI-native Sales Operating System, trusted by enterprise teams to accelerate their GTM motion. Our multi-agent AI system enables actionable account insights, RFP response generation, targeted nudges, and sales content. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE 2) to independently own features and services that power our agentic AI platform for enterprise sales.

Role Overview

As an SDE 2, you can independently own a feature or service end-to-end - from design through deployment and operation. You write sound, maintainable, extensible code, applying SOLID principles and common design patterns with good judgment, and you can design a moderately-scoped system while reasoning clearly about trade-offs. You will use AI coding tools as a force-multiplier, mentor SDE 1s, and raise the quality bar of the systems you touch.

Key Responsibilities

• Own End-to-End: Take features and services from design and low-level design (LLD) through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operation - with limited supervision.
• Design Well: Apply SOLID (SRP, OCP, LSP, ISP, DIP) and patterns (Strategy, State, Factory, Observer) where they fit, with justification. Identify entities and relationships cleanly and choose abstractions appropriate to scope.
• Build for Change: Write code that accommodates the obvious next requirement without a rewrite, and handle concurrency and thread-safety where the problem demands it.
• Ensure Correctness: Deliver code that compiles, runs, and demonstrates core flows end-to-end. Handle edge cases deliberately, write meaningful tests for primary behaviors, and debug systematically.
• Contribute to System Design: Participate in medium-scope HLD - defining components, APIs, data models, and storage/caching/queuing choices, and reasoning about failure modes.
• Use AI with Judgment: Treat AI-assisted IDEs as a multiplier while reviewing output critically - refactoring God classes, rejecting hallucinated APIs, and owning every line you ship.
• Mentor & Review: Guide SDE 1s, give substantive code reviews, and contribute to a healthy engineering culture.

What We're Looking For

Education: B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science from a premier institute (IIT, BITS, NIT, or equivalent).

Experience

• 3-7 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong low-level and system design for moderately-scoped problems; comfortable owning design reviews.
• Demonstrated application of SOLID principles and design patterns with sound judgment.
• Proficiency in one or more modern languages and solid grounding in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures (AWS).
• Good database fundamentals (relational and/or NoSQL) and a real testing and debugging discipline.
• Track record of independently delivering a feature or service end-to-end.

Good to Have

• Experience with LLMs, agentic systems, or AI/ML platform engineering.
• Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, or similar) and embedding/retrieval pipelines.
• Experience in a B2B SaaS or enterprise product environment, ideally sales-tech or GTM tooling.
• Familiarity with coding agents such as Claude, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
