Job summary

Expedia Group invites experienced software engineers to join the Marketplace Health (MPH) organization. You will design and deliver highly available services, own end-to-end solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust APIs and data models.

Role emphasizes reliability, security, and observability, with opportunities to mentor peers, improve CI/CD, and safely integrate AI/ML features into production workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Proven experience owning end-to-end delivery of services or components, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and familiarity with system design, API design, and data modeling

• Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient services and applications, including clear low-level designs, robust APIs, and effective data models
• Own end-to-end technical solutions across multiple services or components, ensuring code quality, observability, security, and operational readiness
• Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business and customer requirements into technical solutions that can be reused across domains
• Lead code and design reviews, drive engineering best practices, and mentor other engineers to improve technical execution and maintain high standards
• Diagnose complex production issues, improve reliability and performance through data-driven analysis, and enhance CI/CD pipelines and operational tooling
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows

Introduction to the Team:

The Marketplace Health (MPH) organization supports services, processes, and data analytics that maximize positive outcomes in EG’s marketplace for both travellers and supply partners. We are a group of product and engineering delivery teams situated in Expedia Marketplace (Design & Trust), focused on the health (the state of well-being, free from issues) and trust (firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something) of the Expedia travel marketplace.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient services and applications, including clear low-level designs, robust APIs, and effective data models
• Own end-to-end technical solutions across multiple services or components, ensuring code quality, observability, security, and operational readiness
• Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business and customer requirements into technical solutions that can be reused across domains
• Lead code and design reviews, drive engineering best practices, and mentor other engineers to improve technical execution and maintain high standards

Experience and Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Significant professional software development experience designing and building services or applications in a production environment.
• Proven experience owning end-to-end delivery of services or components, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and familiarity with system design (including low-level design), API design, and data modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing and evolving the architecture of multi-service or domain-level systems, including well-structured APIs, data models, and integration patterns
• Demonstrated success improving performance, reliability, and scalability of high-traffic or mission-critical systems using data-driven analysis and experimentation
• Experience driving engineering excellence initiatives such as test automation, CI/CD improvements, security hardening, and operational best practices
• Hands-on experience integrating or operating AI/ML-enabled capabilities within production services or workflows, including responsible use of AI to enhance user or business outcomes.
• Familiarity with AI-driven developer productivity or observability tools and applying AI-related techniques in a way that is appropriate and safe for large-scale software systems
