Job summary

SITA is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our Product Technology and Engineering team. You will design, develop, and maintain applications in an agile DevOps setup, guiding junior developers and coordinating with non-technical stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget.

You will work on modern architectures with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, integrating REST APIs, OAuth2/JWT security, and cloud-native containers (Docker, Kubernetes).

Qualifications

• Seasoned Senior Developer in fast-paced agile environments, capable of leading and contributing individually.
• Proficient in planning and implementing software architecture within existing frameworks.
• Proficient with Java, microservices, REST and SOA in distributed systems.
• Experienced with cloud-native development using containers (Docker) and Kubernetes.
• Skilled in relational databases like PostgreSQL and API integration.
• Knowledgeable in Spring/Spring Boot and OAuth2/JWT authentication.
• Familiar with Git version control and CI/CD practices.
• Able to coordinate work streams and estimate effort across multicultural teams.
• Aware of using Gen AI to create maintainable, scalable apps.

About The Role & Team

As a Senior Java Developer, you will be part of the technical design, development and maintenance of applications and systems using existing and emerging technology platforms. You will be accountable for writing and delivering functionality, documentation, unit test cases and integration tests as part of a fully Agile DevOps team. You will guide junior developers and non-technical business colleagues through the software development lifecycle, ensuring best practice and delivery of solutions on time and within budget. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will be a part of the Product Technology and Engineering team. The world is changing. Are you ready to define the future of travel with us?

What You’ll Do

• Grasp the technical direction of the product.
• Collaborate with your team to provide assistance and support.
• Follow existing coding guidelines, practices, and all technical processes, but be ready to provide feedback, improvements and new ideas into that process to improve our practices.
• Understand and articulate how our software aligns within the wider architecture of the solution.
• Participate in analysis of requirements for designing new application and system features. Assist with documenting and expressing those requirements for business and technical stakeholders.
• Learn and integrate new technologies in a cutting-edge environment.
• Effectively use AI to enhance productivity across the SDLC.

ABOUT YOUR SKILLS

• Seasoned Senior Developer adept in fast-paced, agile environments, who can lead along with individual contributions.
• Proficient in planning and implementing software architecture, adhering to existing frameworks.
• Skilled in Java, particularly within Microservices, and familiar with SOA principles and distributed systems.
• Aware of REST, including security considerations.
• Experienced in object-oriented code design and best practices.
• Experienced with cloud native development using containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes.
• Experienced in relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Capable of integrating API specifications into software functionality.
• Proficient in application development using Spring and Spring Boot.
• Aware of authentication mechanisms like OAuth2 and JWT.
• Knowledgeable in version control and source code management, with expertise in GIT.
• Adaptable team player, able to coordinate technical work streams and lead estimation processes, communicating effectively in multicultural settings.
• Is aware of utilizing gen AI for creating maintainable and scalable applications.
