Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific India Pvt Ltd in Bengaluru seeks a Scientist II, Cell Biology to drive development and validation of cell culture workflows, reagents and consumables. You will perform cell culture activities, work with immortalized and primary cells, and contribute to 3D models and antibody validation projects.

The role emphasizes independent experimentation, data integrity, and publication-worthy documentation, with collaboration across teams and mentoring of junior scientists.

Qualifications

• Ph.D in life sciences or Master’s in Cell Biology/Biotechnology with 5–6 years of research experience.
• Strong background in cell biology, cell physiology, and tissue development.
• Experience with GLP, GMP or related laboratory practices is a bonus.
• Ability to work independently and in teams and document results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform cell culture activities and aseptic expansion of immortalized cell lines, handling of primary cells.
• Work with stem cells and differentiate to 3D models.
• Develop cell models with immunology focus and validate antibody specificity.
• Carry out transfections and transductions.
• Analyze cell culture samples via microscopy, gene expression, Western blot/ELISA and related tests.
• Plan and execute scientific research with independence.
• Prepare customer-facing documents and publication-quality figures.
• Maintain thorough data records and ensure data integrity.

About Team:

Candidate will be working as part of Thermo Fisher Scientific Research and Development in the core cell culture. Core cell culture team contributes towards strengthening the company’s portfolio by supplying all the biological samples to develop and validate recombinant antibodies. We develop Knock downs and Knock outs to show the specificity of the antibody and also to very specific models for antibody validation to show specificity.

Role & Responsibilities:

Purpose: Thermo Fisher Scientific is recruiting a Scientist who can foster innovation and improve customer outcomes through development and validation of cell culture workflows, reagents, and consumables.

• Perform cell culture activities and laboratory techniques including aseptic expansion of immortalized cell lines, handling of primary cells and immortal cells
• Work with stem cells and perform different type of differentiations to 3D models
• Have good knowledge in Immunology and work with team to develop different type of cell models
• Have to perform transfections and transductions
• Regular analysis of cell culture samples, including microscopy, gene expression analysis, Western blot/ELISA, and other related tests
• Initiate, plan, and execute scientific research with emphasis on cell culture techniques independently
• Prepare customer-facing documents, which include scientific writing and publication-quality images and figures.
• Keep thorough record of cell culture parameters and results into data sheets and/or electronic notebooks
• Responsible for data integrity, accuracy, and analysis.
• Deliver high quality results according to project schedule in support of current and/or new products.

Skills and Experience:

• Experimental skills with attention to detail are critical
• Different type od 3D models and immunological model development
• Transfection and transduction experience
• Demonstrated ability to work in teams and mentor junior scientists
• Strong understanding and hands‑on expertise with culture of multiple mammalian cell types.
• The ideal candidate will have additional experience with protein biology, molecular biology, or other related disciplines.
• Experience in primary and/or stem cell work is required.
• Demonstrated ability to create publication-quality documents.
• The ideal candidate will have a record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
• Should be a good team player, ready to learn new techniques and innovative thinker.

Candidate Requirement:

• Education & Experience levels: Ph.D degree in life sciences or Master’s degree in Cell Biology/Biotechnology or related Life Science with 5-6 years of research experience
• Applicants should have a strong background in Cell Biology
• Nature of experience: Should have a clear understanding of basics of cell biology, cell physiology, and tissue development.
• Should be able to think, work independently and execute experiments
• Knowledge Required: GLP, GMP or any other certification in laboratory practices and EHS certification will be considered as a bonus
