Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Bengaluru is seeking a senior scientist for the antibody development team. You will work on performance and specificity using molecular, protein, and cell biology methods in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires PhD with 5-7 years or Master’s with 10-13 years experience and 3-4 years of industrial exposure, with expertise in immuno applications and antibody platforms. Strong mentoring and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in immuno applications such as ELISA, Western Blotting, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry.
• Experience with antibody development platforms such as phage display, single B cell technologies, hybridoma.
• Proficient in protein purification and analysis technologies including chromatography, SEC, HPLC, SDS-PAGE.
• Strong background in molecular biology, antibody engineering and protein modeling tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to share data and insights with peers.

About Team: Antibody team

The antibody team is involved in engineering and development of antibodies, with a deep focus on reagent quality and specificity. The core activities of team include design, development, purification, conjugation and testing of antibodies in a variety of immunoassay applications using pioneering tools and technologies. The goal of the program is advanced product development and creation of product specific information to promote research use.

Role & Responsibilities

Role: To be an integral part of an antibody development team with a focus on performance and specificity using innovative molecular, protein, and cell biology methods.

• Perform in a fast-paced environment towards antibody development & testing
• Technical leadership in high throughput antibody development and testing platforms using integrated knowledge across protein biology, molecular biology and immuno-applications
• Informal leadership of team of scientists in matrix style operation, provide technical and operational supervision. Mentoring and training junior scientists in research, design and experimental execution, interpreting data and data presentation to collaborators and partners.
• Drive conceptualization within teams to enable development of successful protocols for effective transfer to operation teams.
• Serve as authority in the field of immunoapplications and antibody development to provide inputs and guidance towards driving innovation and cross team collaborations.
• Partner with supporting functions such as product management, program management, operations, and business development to meet program goals.

Candidate Requirement

• PhD with 5-7 years’ experience, or
• Master’s degree with 10-13 years’ experience
• Min 3-4 years of Industrial experience is required

Nature of experience

• Extensive experience and knowledge in immuno applications such as ELISA, Western Blotting, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry etc. Familiarity or experience with next generation platforms such as spatial transcriptomics or proteomics will be a plus.
• Excellent understanding of antibody biology, structure and function. Experience and knowledge of different antibody development platforms such as phage display, single B cell technologies, hybridoma etc highly desirable.
• Good understanding and/or experience with protein purification and analysis technologies such as affinity or ion exchange chromatography, SEC, HPLC, and SDS-PAGE.
• Extensive experience and familiarity with antibody or protein engineering, rational design of mutants, and molecular biology. Experience with structural biology and protein modeling and visualization tools such as Pymol, Shrodinger, Discovery Studio or other such programs.
• Experience with antigen design for immunizations, analysis and identification of epitopic regions desirable.
• Familiarity or experience in development of conjugation chemistries or performing antibody conjugation.
• Project or work experience in support of relevant skills such as publications, project reports or thesis work.
• Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel and possess a strong statistical knowledge and familiarity with statistical software such as Prism.
