Job summary

PwC is seeking a Senior Associate SAP MDG Techno-Functional Consultant – S/4HANA in Bangalore. You will lead end-to-end MDG governance implementations, integrate MDG with SAP modules, and collaborate with business data stewards to translate requirements into robust technical specs.

You will work on ABAP OO development, BRFplus, RBW, FPM, and DRF configurations, ensuring high-quality master data solutions and successful data migrations in a dynamic advisory environment.

Responsibilities

• Configure MDG-M (Material) and MDG-S (Supplier/Business Partner) solutions.
• Design and implement dynamic approval workflows and complex user agent rules.
• Develop custom UI using FPM/Web Dynpro ABAP and integrate MDG with downstream systems.
• Configure DRF to replicate master data to S/4HANA and external apps.
• Collaborate with business data stewards to translate requirements into technical specs.
• Support data migration, mapping, profiling, and master data load using standard MDG tools.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and resolve production replication failures.

Job Description & Summary:

• Lead end-to-end implementation and support of SAP FICO modules (FI: GL, AP, AR, AA; CO: CCA, PCA, IO, CO-PA)
• Manage integration with other SAP modules such as SD, MM, PS, and HCM
• Oversee financial reporting, month-end/year-end closing, and taxation processes
• Lead the technical design, configuration, and end-to-end implementation of SAP MDG Central Governance solutions, focusing on MDG-M (Material) and MDG-S (Supplier/Business Partner)
• Configure and customize dynamic approval workflows using Rule-Based Workflows (RBW), including complex user agent determination rules
• Design and implement custom validations, derivations, and checks using BRFplus (Business Rule Framework plus) and MDG BAdIs
• Develop and customize user interfaces using Floorplan Manager (FPM) and Web Dynpro ABAP, ensuring custom fields are seamlessly integrated into standard MDG UIs
• Configure the Data Replication Framework (DRF) to replicate governed master data to downstream S/4HANA systems and external manufacturing applications via SOA Services (Enterprise Services), ALE/IDocs, and RFCs
• Develop custom technical solutions utilizing Object-Oriented ABAP (ABAP OO), standard MDG APIs, and enhancement frameworks
• Collaborate with business data stewards, manufacturing experts, and supply chain analysts to translate business requirements (such as material classification, plant-specific views, and vendor compliance) into robust technical specifications
• Support data migration, data mapping, profiling, and master data load activities using standard tools (such as SAP MDG Consolidation & Mass Processing)
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root-cause analysis on workflow bottlenecks, and resolve replication failures in production environments

Mandatory skill sets

• 5 to 8 years of hands-on techno-functional experience in SAP MDG .
• Strong technical mastery of SAP MDG development tools: ABAP OO and MDG API development.
• Floorplan Manager (FPM) and Web Dynpro ABAP.
• BRFplus configuration (for complex validation/derivation).
• Rule-Based Workflows (RBW).
• Deep functional understanding of manufacturing-relevant domains: MDG-M : Material Master attributes, Material Types, Plant/Sales views, and Classification.
• MDG-S / MDG-BP : Business Partner, Supplier, Partner Functions, and Banking/Tax details.
• Hands-on configuration experience with the Data Replication Framework (DRF) using IDocs, ALE, and Web Services (SOA).
• Excellent understanding of core S/4HANA master data structures and tables (e.g., MARA, MARC, LFA1, BUT000).
• Proven capability to operate in a hybrid techno-functional capacity, comfortable writing code and interacting directly with business stakeholders.

Preferred skill sets

• Experience with SAP MDG Consolidation and Mass Processing scenarios.
• Familiarity with the integration of SAP MDG with downstream manufacturing execution systems (MES), PLM, or SAP Ariba/IBP.
• Exposure to SAP Fiori deployment and custom MDG tile creation.
• SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP Master Data Governance.
• Prior experience in high-tech manufacturing, OEM, or supply-chain-focused business models.

Soft Skills

• Excellent analytical and debugging skills to resolve complex workflow and replication issues.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical business partners.
