Job description

The destination is the backdrop. The people are the point.

Bangalore · Full-time · In office, Monday to Saturday

ExCo is the company behind Bucketlist and BHX Project.

We started ExCo because travel gets far more interesting when the people around you are interesting too. Some people met on an edition and became close friends. Some started companies, projects or collaborations together. Many stayed part of the community years after coming home.

Bucketlist builds international adventures where the group matters as much as the place. BHX Project is India's first creative residency: a brain vacation for founders, creators, artists, leaders and builders to step away from routine, exchange ideas and make things that did not exist before.

We are hiring a Senior Sales Manager to own what happens to the people who have already told us they want to come.

The role

Every month, over 500 people reach us who can genuinely afford one of our editions and have said, in one way or another, that they want to go. Some of them travel with us. Most of them do not. We want to fill that gap.

That gap is the entire job.

To be clear about what this is not: there is no prospecting here. No lists, no cold outreach, no chasing strangers. Somebody else brings the people in and does it well. You are being hired because two hundred a month is already enough, and the difference between fifty of them travelling and a hundred of them travelling is one person deciding it is their problem.

Nobody enquires about a trip for no reason. Someone has just left a job they gave nine years to. Someone is turning forty and doesn't want it to look like thirty did. Someone has been saying they'll do this since 2019 and has finally run out of excuses. That reason is the thing you are actually working with. The dates and the budget come after.

Two people take these conversations day to day. You will coach them, and you will also be on calls yourself, because the hardest twenty of those two hundred need someone who has done this for years. When a booking is worth having and it is stuck, you do whatever it honestly takes. You call at nine at night. There is no version of this seat where you send someone else and wait for the update.

This seat reports to the COO and sits alongside the person who owns everything upstream of it. Between you, you own the whole picture.

What you will own

The number. How many of the applicants actually travel. Reviewed openly, every week, against a target you help set.

The calls. Yours and theirs. You carry your own conversations and you sit with the two people who carry the rest, listening to real recordings and telling them what to say differently next time.

The follow-through. Everyone who reaches us is somebody's until they have booked or the loop has been closed kindly. Nobody should ever have to ask you where something stands.

The system around the conversation. WhatsApp, email, reminders, sequences. Most of the sending is already automated. You decide what it says, when it goes, and to whom, and you keep improving it.

The diagnosis. At the end of a month you can say why the hundred and forty who did not travel did not travel, specifically, and what you are changing because of it. A number without that read is just a number.

The honest no. Talking someone out of the wrong edition is worth more to us than a booking we later have to unwind. That does not get easier when you have a target. It matters most then.

The handover. What you learn about someone should not die in your inbox. Production runs a better edition when they know who is arriving and why.

What we are looking for

You have four or five years, at least, of being the person who closed things. Not managing people who closed things. Things people thought hard about before buying, at a price that made them pause.

You have carried a target and a team at the same time, and you did not stop taking calls when you got the team.

You have reported to founders or leadership before and held your ground in a room where the number was not good.

You can hold a real conversation with someone spending a meaningful amount of money without becoming either pushy or apologetic. Our guests average thirty five. They can tell.

You are genuinely curious about people. You ask a second question, and a third, because you actually want to know.

You have talked someone out of something because it wasn't right for them.

You keep a record other people can rely on, even when nobody is checking.

You use AI to clear the mundane, drafting follow-ups, summarising calls, keeping the tracker current, so your time goes to the conversations only a person can have.

You have been on a group trip, ours or someone else's, and you remember what it did for you. Useful, not required. We can teach you travel. We cannot teach you the rest of this.

This isn't for you if

You want to run a team rather than be in it. You will be on calls in week one and in year two.

Your instinct when a month is short is to ask for more leads. Here the answer is almost always in the people we already have.

You would rather move quickly through a hundred enquiries than properly through thirty.

Someone's reason for travelling strikes you as beside the point.

You would rather close a booking you know is wrong than lose it.

You're uncomfortable being measured. There are numbers here and we'll talk about them openly.
